The days of traditional instruction with piles of sheet music are over. At an early age of 8, Stef was drawn to music and drumming after discovering his father's extensive record collection.

With the purchase of a drumkit by his supportive parents, the bashing out of beats began along with volume to shake the whole neighbourhood. Interestingly enough the police were never called to stop the noise....

Listening and learning from everything and everyone, Stef took things to the next level. Enter Drum Lessons. Enter Modern Drummer magazine. Enter jamming and forming high school bands, along with incalculable hours of practice.

After countless jams and performances throughout his teenage years, Stef was quickly picked up to fill in and later and join many local Sydney and Melbourne based bands. Touring quickly ensued and frequent travelling up and down the Australian East Coast was now the norm.

Never one to stop learning about drumming, Stef attended many drum clinics and in doing so, met and learnt from some of the world's most talented drummers such as Dave Lombardo, Ryan Van Poederooyen, Virgil Donati, John Tempesta and Dom Famularo.

With a progressive interest in drum tuition, Stef continues to study under the watchful eyes and direction with some of the world's greatest drum teachers.

Stef also offers drum tuition privately and for School Of Rock Sutherland.

With Stef having built a solid professional reputation, he has become a well known live and studio drummer and continues to play for many local and national artists.

Having been a full time Music Teacher for the past six years I am now bringing all of my previous experience to the School of Rock in Sutherland!

I am currently the Music Director for seasonal shows as well as a “one on one” guitar and bass teacher. I have been playing guitar and bass for fifteen years and playing professionally for about ten years.

I have studied Music at University and have a full knowledge of music theory. However, I also know how to rock out and have fun! I am a lover of all music but in particular, I love classic rock.

I will leave you with my favourite quote from the ten commandments of School of Rock, “Inspire others, the way you would like to be inspired.”

Testimonials

  • “School of Rock is the best thing we have done for our three children. They learn self-confidence, teamwork, and musicianship in an environment that is safe and free of the typical age-barrier restrictions that are often inherent in other student activities. The youngest and oldest kids in the school work together and everyone is an equal on stage. I wish other youth activities were as welcoming.”
    — Tony C., parent, Great Valley, PA
  • ““I can’t tell you what an enriching experience this has been for our whole family and especially for Josh. The instructors there were so much more than teachers for Josh, they were his idols and his role models. It has been an amazing time, and I know that as Josh gets older he will look back on all the memories he made at the SOR fondly. You have created something special there, and I hope you understand what an impact your efforts have had on the lives of these children.Thank you for everything!"”
    — Tim Gallagher, Father of School of Rock Denver student
  • “School of Rock has taught me how to perform in public with self-confidence.”
    — Dan, 18, Downingtown, PA
  • “You want your kid to be passionate about something, whether it be sports, scouts, dance or whatever. School of Rock does this for my son. We have discovered a talent we didn't know he had. My son would live at School of Rock if he could. We’ve already recommended the program to several friends.”
