School of Rock St. Paul’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. From singing to drums to guitar, our St. Paul music instructors inspire and teach students to perform live.
Benny Cole Music Director
Benny Cole is a musician, songwriter, film composer and audio engineer, as well as a former School of Rock student. In 2016, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Theory/Composition from McNally Smith College of Music with a minor in Audio Production. Over the years he has spent his time writing/recording records and touring in various bands. He has had the opportunity to open for major acts such as Halestorm, Autograph, FireHouse, Saliva and members of Ozzy. His music has been played regularly on 93X and local college stations. He is a very active, well-connected member of the Minnesota music scene, playing shows weekly with a large number of original and cover bands. Benny teaches guitar, bass, vocals, keys, drums and ukulele. He has 10 years of teaching experience, and two years of School of Rock experience.
Ainsley Burch General Manager
A Twin Cities native, Ainsley Burch cut her teeth as a professional actress and singer during childhood. She’s been the recipient of numerous awards for theater and dance, and when she’s not at School of Rock she can still be found performing around the cities. Ainsley was also one of the first students at the now-renowned St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists in St. Paul, and maintains an abiding love for all things theater-related. School of Rock marks her first foray into the world of music education, and she’s never been happier in a job.
Dan Knoflicek Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Piano Teacher
Dan Knoflicek teaches guitar and bass at School of Rock and is currently writing music for a yet-to-be-released video. A 2012 graduate of McNally Smith College of Music, Dan earned an AAS in Bass Performance and a BA in Music Composition. In addition to his skills on bass and guitar, Dan calls on his 20 years of music experience to compose multi-instrumental music. One of Dan's musical highlights was arranging and performing a Dr. Dre medley in the recently dissolved funk band Soulacious. Not limiting himself to one genre, Dan has spent the past 10 years performing rock, funk, folk, fusion, gypsy jazz, orchestral music and two musicals ("Sweeney Todd" and "The Lebowitz Sisters"). Originally from Sioux Falls South Dakota, Dan now calls the Twin Cities home.
Adam Azra'el House Band Director
Adam Azra’el is a performer, recording artist, engineer, composer and multi-instrumentalist based in the Twin Cities. His musical resumé includes nearly every genre of music and a long list of partnerships with various artists from a wide range of backgrounds. He is a founding member of the Irish rock outfit St. George’s Folly, as well as an occasional sit-in member of a number of cover and tribute bands. Adam teaches vocals, drums, keys, guitar and bass. He has over 15 years of teaching experience in both individual and group settings (including seven years with School of Rock), and holds degrees in Performance, Music Production and Recording Technology from McNally Smith College Of Music.
