Programs we offer

Rookies music program for children
Rookies
Ages 6-7

At School of Rock Round Rock, our music program for children with no previous musical experience (typically ages 6 to 7-years-old) is called Rookies. Rookies students have one weekly group music lesson where they learn fundamentals like chords, rhythm and song structure. Kids get to learn and experiment with multiple instruments so they can later decide which one they ultimately want to continue pursuing in Rock 101.

The Path to Take the Stage

All of our music programs are designed to inspire students to learn and develop a strong musical proficiency. At School of Rock Round Rock, younger students who are not ready for a more comprehensive program like Rock 101 can start in Rookies. No prior musical experience is needed for Rookies. Once your child is ready for private music lessons (typically older than first or second graders), they will graduate into our Rock 101 program.

Ages 8-13

Rock 101 is one of School of Rock Round Rock's top programs for kids and beginners. Students have one weekly group rehearsal where they learn to play classic rock songs that have been simplified for beginner musicians. Additionally, Rock 101 students in Round Rock have a weekly private music lesson with an instructor who helps them learn the concepts and skills behind their performance songs.

The Path to Take the Stage

Our music programs for kids in Round Rock are designed to get students on stage performing, with the goal of building strong musical proficiency. Younger students at School of Rock Round Rock who have participated in the Rookies program can move to our Rock 101 music program once they’re ready. Additionally, students (typically ages 8 to 13-years-old) can begin Rock 101 without any prior experience. The goal of this rock program is to quickly develop a basic competence on students’ chosen instruments before moving on to our famous Performance Program.

The Performance Program at School of Rock Round Rock is our hallmark music program, where tens of thousands of students enroll each year. It consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, refining the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances. Every few months, School of Rock Round Rock Performance Program students take the stage and play at local Round Rock music venues in front of a live audience.

The Path to Take the Stage

School of Rock Round Rock's music programs for kids and teens are designed to inspire by getting students on stage and performing. All of our other music education programs focus on readying students for our famous Performance Program. This is where students develop incredible musical skills. Performance Program students have often gone through our Rock 101 program first or have some previous basic music experience. These young musicians will have custom development plans outlined by their instructors with key concepts reinforced during private lessons and group rehearsals, all with the goal of performing live at a Round Rock music venue.

Adult Program
Ages 18+

School of Rock Round Rock's Adult Program is for students over 18 years old who are looking to either improve their musical proficiency or pick up an instrument with no prior musical experience. As with most School of Rock music programs, the Adult Program uses a performance-based music education approach. This means the curriculum focuses on learning music concepts and applying them in a live performance setting. Our Adult Music Program includes one weekly private music lesson and a weekly group rehearsal. Every student at School of Rock Round Rock is placed in a band of fellow adults and then assigned specific songs as a way of learning key music concepts and skills. Adult students then take the stage to play at a live show in Round Rock.

The Path to Take the Stage

All of our music programs are designed to inspire by getting students on stage and performing, with the goal of building strong musical proficiency along the way. The School of Rock Round Rock Adult Program is open to all experience levels and each student will follow a customized learning plan developed by their instructor. Adult students will work together during rehearsal to prepare for a live performance at a real rock venue in Round Rock.

Age 17 and Under

The School of Rock Round Rock House Band music program gives students under 18 the opportunity to join a gigging band composed of fellow musicians from their school. These students perform additional live shows throughout the year. All students in the Performance Program have the opportunity to audition for a spot in School of Rock Round Rock's House Band. Once selected, House Band members become leaders in their School of Rock community and perform live shows at TX rock venues throughout the year.

The Path to Take the Stage

Performance is the core of School of Rock's educational approach. Therefore, we create additional opportunities for students to perform on stages throughout Round Rock and the rest of TX. The House Band music program allows each school's most talented students the opportunity to join a band and play routinely in front of live audiences. Once a member, students will gain real music experience associated with gigging musicians and will become leaders and mentors inside the School of Rock community.

Ages 13-19

The Center Stage Artist Search Program is an opportunity to be heard by a major record label. Singers from the ages of 13-19 can submit an audition video as part of the selection process. Selected artists will then have the chance to participate in a studio recording session, and perform at a live artist showcase with record label executives in Los Angeles. We'll also provide School of Rock songwriting camp scholarships for 100 applicants. Submit your video audition today.

The music of legendary recording artists can be the inspiration behind many School of Rock students’ drive to pick up an instrument for the first time. This music is the foundation of our curriculum because it helps maintain young musician’s drive to gain musical proficiency. Beginner Guitar Lessons for Kids

At School of Rock Round Rock, we offer beginner guitar lessons for kids. Our expert guitar instructors guide your child from start to finish with private instruction and weekly group band rehearsals. Every instructor at School of Rock Round Rock is an experienced musician, and they emphasize foundational music theory and technique when teaching guitar lessons to kids. Unlike other Round Rock guitar lessons and programs, School of Rock is designed to get students performing in a band.

Beginner Guitar Lessons for Adults

It’s never too late to learn to play the guitar. Similar to our kids guitar lessons, School of Rock Round Rock's beginner guitar lessons for adults utilizes a performance-based curriculum. Our experienced instructors teach adult students through popular rock songs, and teach students to play guitar in a way that’s challenging and fun. We believe the best way to learn is by doing, which is why we combine weekly private guitar lessons with group band rehearsals. At School of Rock Round Rock, we teach beginner guitar lessons for adults in our Adult Program. This program gets students performing onstage at a local Round Rock venue.

Beginner Drum Lessons for Kids

Intermediate to Advanced Drum Lessons

More experienced to advanced drum students need a drum lesson curriculum that builds upon foundational skills and continues to grow musical proficiency. That’s why at School of Rock Round Rock, our drum lessons are customized for each student and his or her goals. Our Round Rock drum instructors integrate more complex techniques and concepts—intermediary grooves, shifts, meters and more—into a student's individual lessons and group band rehearsal, and will also select more difficult songs for his or her live performances.

School of Rock Round Rock offers beginner singing lessons for kids. Our unique, performance-based approach develops students' musical proficiency by preparing them to perform live. At School of Rock Round Rock, our vocal coaches are practicing musicians who integrate key music fundamentals—breathing, posture and more—into a curriculum based on performing with a band. Each week, beginner singing students participate in a private singing lesson and a band rehearsal.

Beginner Singing Lessons for Adults

School of Rock Round Rock teaches adults how to sing in our innovative Adult Program. Students develop vocal skills at a challenging pace designed to help you see results with every singing lesson. Adult vocalists learn how to keep tempo, stay on-key and master advanced vocal techniques for a powerful and healthy voice. Our curriculum teaches students how to sing by using popular rock songs that emphasize key concepts. Each week, Adult Program students have a private singing lesson for beginners and group band rehearsal.

Keyboard Lessons for All Skill Levels

Beginner Keyboard Lessons for Kids

At School of Rock we teach differently than other music schools in Round Rock. Our curriculum is performance-based, meaning that we prepare students to perform. Our piano lessons for beginners combine weekly private instruction with weekly band rehearsals. At School of Rock Round Rock, our beginner keyboard lessons for kids take key concepts and music fundamentals—finger placement, scales, key differentiation and more—and teach them through popular rock songs. This approach inspires and engages students, which results in attaining a high level of musical proficiency. Our piano teachers have years of experience teaching music in the Round Rock area, and know how to coach and motivate students of any skill level to play the keyboard.

Beginner Keyboard Lessons for Adults

The School of Rock Round Rock Adult Program puts beginner keyboard students in a band. Adult Program students in the Round Rock area learn to play piano through a combination of weekly private beginner piano lessons and weekly band rehearsals. At School of Rock, our piano lessons give adult students the chance to perform in a band at local Round Rock music venues, taking them out of the classroom and onto the stage.

Our local keyboard instructors are all practicing musicians in Round Rock, and use popular rock songs as a way of teaching complex skills. We pair weekly private piano lessons with weekly band rehearsals to inspire and engage students throughout the learning process.

Alex Camet Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Singing Teacher

Alejandro “Alex” Camet is originally from Mexico and attended The Art institute of Austin, where he studied a bachelor’s degree in Audio Production. He also attended many different music schools in Mexico, including Canzion Institute. He plays guitar, bass, drums, vocals and piano. He currently plays with his band Black Noize and his solo project. Alejandro’s music influences include Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Molotov,
Cafe Tacuba, John Mayer and Guns n' Roses.

Alex Vallejo Music Director

Alejandro “Alex” Vallejo is best known as the drummer of the award-winning Austin rock band Vallejo. Aside from performing, producing and co-writing with his brothers in Vallejo, Alex is also the VP of their music label, Vallejo Music Group, an artist consultant and board member at Austin Music Foundation, regional music director for School of Rock Round Rock, talent buyer for Event Production Services, One Road Austin, Austin's New Year and co-founder of the Pachanga Latino Music Festival.

Aric Garcia Drum Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Singing Teacher

Austin musician and Texas native Aric Garcia has been playing drums since he was four years old and has almost 30 years of experience. He was voted one of the Top 10 Drummers in Austin for the past two years in the Austin Chronicle Music Awards. For the last 15 years, he has been experimenting in performance, musical form, session drumming, engineering and producing. He can also sing and play guitar, bass, piano and synthesizers. His most recent achievement has been engineering an album that was included in the Top 100 Albums in Austin in 2018, earning him a 2019 SXSW Showcase. He is currently in four Austin bands, so ask him when you can catch him at a show.

Brent Meyer Music Director

When not inhabiting the persona of Depeche Mode mastermind and multi-instrumentalist Martin L. Gore onstage most weekends, Brent plays an even more pivotal role for his project Strangelove, The Depeche Mode Experience behind the scenes. A wearer of multiple hats, Brent has operated in almost every role within the music industry, including as a composer for TV/film/video games, working as a record label VP, recording artist, touring sideman in signed bands, festival organizer, artist management for platinum acts, music director, studio owner, arranger/orchestrator and record producer/engineer (for such artists as Henry Rollins, Bowie
collaborator Reeves Gabriels, Chic/Bowie/Power Station’s Tony Thompson and several musicians in the Beck/Sting sphere). He’s recently worked with Depeche Mode’s drummer Christian Eigner, who contributed drums for two original projects. As a booking agent, he's helmed the largest tribute-focused talent agency in the world, Music Zirconia. He has the occasional dalliance, employing his operatic baritone fronting another passion project, Fears For Tears. He is the Music Director at School of Rock Round Rock.

Carly Fairchild Studio Coordinator

Carly Fairchild started her singing career at the age of five, spending most of her early years in musical theatre. She was professionally trained until the age of 18, when she got involved in a high school rock band. Carly currently sings, plays the bass and manages the band Shoddy Posture, and is in school studying Music Ministry. She is the Studio Coordinator at School of Rock Round Rock.

Chris Schreck Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Singing Teacher

Chris Schreck is a multi-instrumentalist with a Bachelor's Degree from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. His primary instrument is percussion (drum set) with a vast range of experience on piano, guitar, vocals and bass. He is a music producer/composer and has performed in the top ensembles in school, as well as in groups outside of school. He currently is an instructor at School of Rock Round Rock and occasionally travels for corporate events with Emil and Dariel, as seen on "America’s Got Talent." Chris started
his teaching career by directing his high school drum line and has been teaching since.

Emanuele Pistucchia Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Piano Teacher

Emanuele Pistucchia is an Italian guitarist based in Austin, Texas. He works as a side man and session man collaborating with many big names in the rock, country and blues scene, especially in Tennessee, Texas and California. In the last few years he has been touring a lot across the country and in South America. In 2017 he formed his own alternative blues band, Red On Yellow, whose first album, produced by the Austin Music Award winner Adrian Quesada, was released in early 2018.

Huntley Hornback Manager

Huntley Hornback is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and attended college at Chico State University, where he studied Audio Recording. He plays guitar, bass and drums, as well as mandolin and ukulele. He has performed with many bands, including Skyway, The Rastabillies, Chico Ska Orchestra and the Alice Peake Experience. Huntley also enjoys building guitars, basses and ukuleles, and is currently exploring the world of looping. His musical influences include The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young and Cake. He is the Manager at School of Rock Round Rock.

Joshua Roush Assistant Music Director

Joshua Roush has become an accomplished musician, composer and instructor through the years. Pursuing a degree in Music Education, he learned and mastered several instruments with a thirst for knowledge and improvement. He played at Carnegie Hall at the age of 17, sang at the National Cathedral at the age of 18, won the John Phillips Sousa Award and won the talent show in his senior year of high school. He plays and has played in many bands, as well as held the position of drum major and student conductor in high school musical ensembles. He is very passionate about helping his students on their journey through music. When Joshua isn’t teaching, he is playing in one of his bands: Three:33 (rock originals), Roc Holiday (rock originals) and Trick Shot (high energy covers with a rock edge). He also fills in with various bands around town. He puts more than the required time and effort into his students and music. He is the Assistant Music Director at School of Rock Round Rock.

Kevin Abbenante Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher

Kevin Abbenante has been a lifelong resident of the Austin area. Kevin is a professional drummer and has been playing for over 20 years, and has been performing and touring for the last 10 years. He has also been a
session drummer on numerous studio albums. He currently performs and tours with Kaleider. Kevin earned his Associate Degree in Commercial Music Management from Austin Community College in 2012. He has been working as a professional audio engineer for the past nine years predominantly at 512 Studios with Omar Vallejo. He has also done some projects at Evenbreak Productions with Vicki Holmes, and Evil Snail Studios with Kfir and Rom Gov.
Since Kevin has been affiliated with 512 Studios, Evenbreak Productions and Evil Snail Studios, he has helped engineer and mix over 100 albums. Kevin takes great pride in the fact that 512 Studios was voted Best Recording Studio in Austin for the 2016 and 2018 Austin Chronicle Music Industry Awards. Kevin has engineered, mixed, produced and played as a session drummer in many different styles of music, ranging from rock and metal to country, hip-hop and Tejano.

Les Fisher Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher

The rock steady drumming of Les Fisher is second nature to a man who is a second-generation star of the skins. He grew up in Grand Rapids, MI listening to his drummer dad. Les's crisp vocals and songwriting talent got a jump-start from his mother, an accomplished jazz singer. If you close your eyes, it’s hard to believe that the soulful and smooth voice that you are hearing is coming from the same man that you see laying down the groove. Les is known for the energy and confidence he exudes from behind the drums. His versatile, laid back
attitude has a way of putting other musicians at ease.
 
Most recently Les has performed with Micki Free (formerly with Shalamar), Don Was and Was Not Was, Mindi Abair and the Boneshakers, Jason Mraz, Brothers Johnson and George Lopez. Also, Les's notorious backbeat in Austin, TX has given him the opportunity to play with musicians such as Gary Clark Jr., Tom Cochran, Bob Schneider, Vallejo, MC Overlord and gospel singers Mary Mary. Les has been sought after for national tours by Sophie B. Hawkins, El Debarge, legendary saxophonist Ronnie Laws and George Clinton Parliament Funkadelik. Les’s previous band, The Funk Mob, also backed up the legendary Patti LaBelle, Az Yet and The Temptation’s lead singer, Larry Braggs.

Nick Rash Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher

A multi-instrumentalist fresh out of high school who excels in studio work and live performance, Nick has a background in classical stringed instruments, as well as contemporary guitar, bass and piano, and can play anything for anyone under the sun.

Vonny Hannah Singing Teacher

Vonny has performed and recorded music all over the world, utilizing all the tools within her grasp. This multi-talented young diva sings, dances, writes, co-writes, co-produces, creates, designs and much more. She has come to be quite the chameleon. This enigmatic performer loves to bring different characters to life, performing her music and guest performing in various bands, including as Mistress V in Dead Love Club, as a 90s pop princess in The GoGo Dolls and the Red Tomato Rotel in The Hot Tomatoes to name a few. She vocally takes you through enticing melodies, piano arrangements and strings, and as she has grown as an artist so too has her sound, which now ranges from ballads to up-tempo dance tracks. Classically trained and eclectically minded, this Lebanese/Portuguese artist is determined to conquer you heart and leave a
lipstick print on your soul.

What I like about the program is that my kids LOVE it!

This is so different from the music lessons that existed when I was a kid. These kids are actually making music and learning to play as a band. The performances are so impressive, and watching the kids gain confidence and express themselves on stage is priceless.

The structure around how kids learn is amazing.

Taking lessons to learn an instrument is one thing, but learning how to be a part of a band is on another level. These kids are learning how to communicate, respect people and their opinions, and how to be accountable for themselves. It’s more than just music here.
