Roland is an experienced drummer who started playing at age 12, forming his first rock band at 13. In high school he played in the jazz band and, after graduating, toured professionally with "Transient" a Top 40 hits group. Through that two year experience he learned the challenges, and rewards, of band life. His musical journey next took him to a private music school in Toronto, Trebas Institute of Recording Arts, where he earned a diploma in Music Business Management. During that phase he learned about the inner workings of the music business and also through his internship with an entertainment lawyer who represented artists such as Cory Hart, Luba and The Northern Pikes.

Interested to continue his business studies, Roland returned to Regina to pursue a Business degree at the U of R. While completing his degree, he operated and started up various businesses with his family. After successfully selling the main family business, Roland went on to complete his MBA through the Levene School of Business at the University of Regina.

It was in January 2016 that Roland discovered the School of Rock franchise business opportunity. "When I started to research it, " he said, "I realized very quickly it brought my love for music and business together in a unique way. It gave kids the opportunity to learn music with others while gaining confidence on stage. I wish I would have had this type of school when I was growing up! I am excited to bring this opportunity to kids in Regina and surrounding area to be able to rock on stage and in life!"

Roland currently drums for a local blues/rock band, 'Call Me Mildy'. He will direct the school's overall business strategy, act as Music Director, assist with drum instruction and manage finances and human resources areas.

      Time to rock Regina!

Laurie is an experienced administrator, having managed the President's Office of a provincial Treasury Board Crown, later pursuing policy writing and helping establish the organization’s first employee wellness program. After many years with government, she became the Managing Director for the Family Enterprise Xchange a national non-profit organization and also served on their Board of Directors. For education, Laurie holds a Bachelor of Arts Advanced from University of Regina and a Certificate of Administration. Laurie enjoys public speaking and obtained her CTM designation from Toastmasters International in 1996. As an investor and General Manager Laurie will focus on the overall business strategy, student scheduling, customer relations and marketing initiatives for the school.

As for music, she appreciates most kinds of music with '80's rock' at the core. For musical experience, she sang in her elementary school choir and took four years of piano lessons. During high school, she became interested in various kinds of rock music and started attending concerts. She liked the School of Rock model when she learned of it: "This school gives kids the closest thing to a rockstar experience, and also provides higher levels for the driven musician such as the school 'House Band' and the national 'All Stars' program. This is not just a business--it feels like a calling to help students pursue their musical journey."

Laurie and Roland have two sons, Connor, age 20, and Quinn, 15--and Roxy, their beloved border collie, who is now the school mascot and has a new nickname: 'Roxy Roller'!

Kevin is a veteran of the road with over 25 years in the business as a touring musician, music director, and show designer. Starting in 1995 Kevin moved to Vancouver to pursue music full time. It was there that he got involved in the business side of the industry and sharpened his skills as a promoter, agent and manager. Learning the music business on and off the stage enabled him to be a valuable member of touring bands and productions by taking on management roles alongside his performance duties.

Over the years Kevin has worked with his original projects and tribute acts playing stages across Canada and the US including show runs in Las Vegas, Australia, China, Europe, and Japan. He has designed shows for stages in Las Vegas, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and continues to produce touring tribute shows today.

Kevin brings his skills as a busy working guitarist, bassist, and drummer along with the knowledge of live show design concepts to the School of Rock. He’s pumped to be back in the classroom and ready to use his experience to help launch the next generation of rock stars.

Rob is currently on leave doing a gig in Beijing, China!

Hailing from Estevan, Sask., Rob Green has been beating his drums since he got his first kit at age 11. Before long he figured out the hard rockin' 16th note beat to Motley Crue's "Wildside". From that moment on he knew that rocking was his business, and business could be good!

While playing in the high school jazz band, Green won numerous awards and scholarships. After high school he began a long nightclub tour across Canada with friends who shared his obsession with “The Doors” and “AC/DC.” Soon after, Green recorded original tracks with "Eva Gold" an original band that gained much success touring Western Canada. He continued to play and record in a variety of original and cover bands in Regina while attending the University of Regina. In 2002 he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in Film and Video, but shooting videos and editing TV shows soon started to conflict with his increasingly busy gigging schedule.

He decided that music and drumming consistently made life more awesome and for the past 15 years he has made it his main source of income. During that time Green played with numerous popular cover bands including "Wonderland" and Regina's well known 70’s classic rock tribute band "Men Without Shame." In 2004 Green also played with Canada's Grammy award winning trio "The Wilkinsons".
Eventually Green felt a need to escape the prairie winters so he and some friends gained work as musicians on a cruise ship. Gaining experience as the ship's band director, Green had the opportunity to visit Australia, New Zealand, San Diego, Mexico and many South Pacific Islands. After this phase, Green had the opportunity to become land-based again at some of the world's finest 5 star hotels in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Oman, Dubai and recently Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Beijing in China. He is grateful for his traveling musical experience and for the extra time it afforded him to develop his production and songwriting skills. However, he is happy to be back in Regina now and super excited to share his passion for music as a teacher and Rock 101 Director at School of Rock!

Matt began playing guitar in 2004, followed by the piano in 2008. Although he initially received private guitar, piano and vocal lessons, he is mostly self-taught. Matt gained teaching experience instructing beginner to intermediate guitar lessons for Custom Music, before turning to focus on his own music career.

In 2015, he and local singing artist, Alexandra Barabe, started the Americana duo 'Acadence', releasing their first album that year and playing local shows. In early 2016, Matt focused his musical ambitions on reconnecting with his pop-punk band Beauty Killed the Beast (BKTB), where he is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. After releasing their first EP 'Here's Hoping' in January 2017, BKTB has been embraced by the local music scene, performing regularly throughout the year.

Matt is excited to begin teaching music lessons again, and for the opportunity to share his passion for songwriting and performing with other aspiring musicians.

Raised in a musical family, it is no surprise that Dylan Keith Dobrescu's parents chose names after their music icons Bob Dylan and Keith Richards. Dylan was surrounded by instruments from the very start and had a fondness for smashing guitars and drumming on anything that slightly resembled a drum! He started taking drum lessons with veteran drummer/percussionist Jayson Brinkworth at the age of 7. Fifteen plus years later they are still at it, both inspiring each other's burning passion for the instrument.

At the beginning of highschool Dylan formed his first band, Majetik, a progressive rock 4 piece. Over 5 years they become a popular act in Regina, gaining recognition for their complex song writing at a such a young age. Majetik placed as finalists for 3 years running in the Queen City Rocks contest hosted by the radio station. 104.9 The Wolf. They also played notable gigs such as Juno Fest 2012, and Telemiracle. Dylan also participated in the Roland V Drums Nationwide Junior Drum-off, placing as a Top 10 finalist in 2011 and 2012. In the summer of 2011, Dylan enjoyed being cast as a drum double in the Norm McDonald movie, 'Vampire Dog'!

An energetic and passionate individual, Dylan thrives on being involved in a number of projects. In 2014 Dylan joined the heavy metal band KELEVRA, toured Western Canada with them, and released an original EP. In 2015, Dylan started playing with veteran blues guitarist Azariah Paris. Dylan plays Azariah's originals as well as classic blues covers in blues bars in Regina and surrounding cities on a regular basis. Dylan expanded his musical boundaries by joining the celtic-rock cover band Celtica, playing at numerous themed events such as St. Partick's Day, Mosaic, Highland Games, and more. Most recently Dylan played in a pit band for a local production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, performing to sold out audiences at the Conexus Arts Centre. .In mid 2017, Majetik disbanded and Dylan, along with two of the members created The Deaf Idols, who are currently recording their debut album set for release in 2018.

When he has spare time, Dylan fills in for gigs and has taught students of all ages at his home in the evenings. He is pumped to be a part of the School of Rock team and share his passion for drumming!

Alyssa Mitchell started to learn the keys very young with an extensive classical piano background. Through years of structured lessons it eventually led her to branch out in different pathways of music. Starting her teaching career with a local lesson company and teaching a classically technical base, Alyssa felt the need for a more ear-oriented variation had to be out there.

In 2003 Alyssa started voice lessons finally combining her two loves. Eventually vocal coaching pushed her to pursue a team environment which was found at Class Act Studios as part of the 'Do It With Class' (DIWC) Young Peoples Theatre Company in 2005. Moving forward with DIWC she found herself doing lots of amateur theatre within the city and countless shows have opened the door to help young people reach their potential.

Eventually craving more on the performance side, Alyssa joined forces in a blues project to expand her musical profile. This style of learning drives the method she brings to teaching and how she wants her students to be exposed to the rounded community of music. Alyssa is excited to be a part of School of Rock and can't wait to propel this next chapter forward!

Dale has an absolute love and passion for music and the privilege of being a part of School Of Rock complements that passion! He enjoys teaching students who also have that passion and is eager to help bring out their musical potential, while having fun along the way!

Starting out with two years of instruction, plus having the gift of a good ear, has allowed Dale to be mainly self taught in his mastering of the guitar and bass. Over the years of playing he has gained music theory knowledge from reading and picking up tips from accomplished artists. His influences include country, blues, some jazz, but mainly rock! Dale performed over 15 years with a variety of bands in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he had the opportunity to open for some popular Canadian classic rock bands such as Trooper and Honeymoon Suite.

Dale currently performs live and records with the local blues/rock band Call Me Mildy.

On Nov. 25, 2017, Mayor Michael Fougere officially opened School of Rock Regina by smashing a black Epiphone (Gibson) electric guitar, much to the crowd's delight! (It was broken already, just so you know! Wouldn't want to waste that beauty!). The School of Rock Instructor team then performed a rousing rendition of "It's a Long Way to the Top if You want to Rock 'n Roll' along with the Mayor on the drums!

Depoimentos

  • “School of Rock is the best thing we have done for our three children. They learn selfconfidence, teamwork, and musicianship in an environment that is safe and free of the typical agebarrier restrictions that are often inherent in other student activities. The youngest and oldest kids in the school work together and everyone is an equal on stage. I wish other youth activities were as welcoming.”
    - Tony C., parent, Great Valley, PA
  • “"I can't tell you what an enriching experience this has been for our whole family and especially for Josh. The instructors there were so much more than teachers for Josh, they were his idols and his role models. It has been an amazing time, and I know that as Josh gets older he will look back on all the memories he made at the SOR fondly. You have created something special there, and I hope you understand what an impact your efforts have had on the lives of these children.Thank you for everything!"”
    - Tim Gallagher, Father of School of Rock Denver student
  • “School of Rock has taught me how to perform in public with selfconfidence.”
    - Dan, 18, Downingtown, PA
  • “You want your kid to be passionate about something, whether it be sports, scouts, dance or whatever. School of Rock does this for my son. We have discovered a talent we didn't know he had. My son would live at School of Rock if he could. We've already recommended the program to several friends.”
    - Susan Snyder, Clifton, VA
