Our Natick Rookies learn the fundamental concepts of pitch, rhythm, form and dynamics with age-appropriate exercises, tools and games. We encourage our students to explore a variety of instruments and play styles so they can get familiar with all parts of the musical landscape; even the most incredible solo guitar players or drummers need to understand how the rest of the band works together.

My passion for music was sparked at an early age by the discovery of my parents’ record collection. From The Beach Boys, to the Bee Gees, to Cheap Trick, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, my classic rock foundation was solidified. I spent my formative tween and teen years playing guitar and singing, sometimes horribly, sometimes pretty darn well, and always fun. Playing with friends, whether we knew the song or not, was a magical experience. The power of playing a song from beginning to end, sharing responsibility, taking pride in your part, and being proud of your bandmates’ parts, is just indescribable. The art of teamwork, and a teamwork of art.

I attended the Berklee College of music, receiving a partial scholarship for songwriting, and graduated with a degree in Film Scoring. Since then, I’ve done, and still do a little bit of everything, like writing music for independent films, for corporate videos, writing jingles, writing rock songs, playing in bands, touring, producing and arranging. I’ve played with Will Dailey (Wheelkick Records), Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo), Senior Happy (CBS Records), Worshipper (Tee Pee Records), Waltham (Rykodisc), among others. Currently, I record and perform with Boston Music Award nominee, Magen Tracy and the Missed Connections, and my own band Airport. Some of my songs have appeared on Dawson’s Creek, The Amazing Race, and Fox Sports. One time I auditioned for the Foo Fighters. Come by and I’ll tell you about it!

My passion for making music has evolved into a passion for helping kids make music. Let’s rock together!

I’m a music-loving, concert poster-designing creative director, designer, and marketing expert who has led branding initiatives for well-known and not-so-well-known brands. I pay attention to all the details, and people tell me I’m pretty creative. I’m crazy about kids, and passionate about inspiring them to find their spark, their confidence, and their voice. Most of all, I can’t wait to see you all rock out!

Angela is no stranger to music and the power that performing can have on one’s growth into adulthood.
Angela has been a performer since the early age of 9 years old, where she began in local theatre in Brockton, MA, and in concert band at the Arnone Elementary School where she learned the Alto Saxophone. This was only the beginning for a young performer. She went on to middle school and high school, where she joined every club, organization, and event surrounding music and theatre. She credits her confident, limitless attitude to performance, claiming that she would not be who she is today without music. Following her high school graduation, Angela began connecting with her songwriting ability and taught herself guitar and went on to Berklee College of Music to study in their songwriting program. Through Berklee, Angela has quadrupled her music and performance skills. She is a performer at Boston’s dueling piano bar, “Howl At the Moon,” where she performs hit songs on piano, guitar, bass, and drums.
Upon receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Berklee College of Music in May 2018, Angela plans to continue her studies with Berklee to earn an MBA in Music Business. She strives to create a safe space for performing and to inspire youth to use their creative outlets to help them fine-tune and develop those dynamite qualities to help them achieve success in whatever endeavor they may choose in adulthood.

Kyle Bruenning is a drummer & percussionist based in Boston, MA, recently relocating from South Carolina. He started playing drums at the age of 10 so he could join the family garage band. His love from drumming and percussion developed into a passion, and he went on to study classical percussion, drum set, music education, and jazz, getting a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a Masters in Percussion Performance from Winthrop University. You could say he's well-schooled.
While at Winthrop, Kyle won the Bruce Thompson Concerto Competition and performed Winthrop Wind Symphony. He was also named the Presser Scholar for that school year, an award given to the most outstanding rising senior in music at Winthrop University.
More recently, Kyle has performed with the Boston Civic Symphony, the Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium Orchestra, and Percussionisms, a percussion ensemble that he co-founded. When he's not wearing a tux, Kyle loves to jam with bands like Through the Rye, Mall Goth, and Help Yourself.
This past summer he played drums for the Carowinds Brass Brigade, bringing good times and funky music to the people of Carowinds theme park.

Depoimentos

  • “School of Rock is the best thing we have done for our three children. They learn self-confidence, teamwork, and musicianship in an environment that is safe and free of the typical age-barrier restrictions that are often inherent in other student activities. The youngest and oldest kids in the school work together and everyone is an equal on stage. I wish other youth activities were as welcoming.”
    — Tony C., parent, Great Valley, PA
  • ““I can’t tell you what an enriching experience this has been for our whole family and especially for Josh. The instructors there were so much more than teachers for Josh, they were his idols and his role models. It has been an amazing time, and I know that as Josh gets older he will look back on all the memories he made at the SOR fondly. You have created something special there, and I hope you understand what an impact your efforts have had on the lives of these children.Thank you for everything!"”
    — Tim Gallagher, Father of School of Rock Denver student
  • “School of Rock has taught me how to perform in public with self-confidence.”
    — Dan, 18, Downingtown, PA
  • “You want your kid to be passionate about something, whether it be sports, scouts, dance or whatever. School of Rock does this for my son. We have discovered a talent we didn't know he had. My son would live at School of Rock if he could. We’ve already recommended the program to several friends.”
    — Susan Snyder, Clifton, VA
