My passion for music was sparked at an early age by the discovery of my parents’ record collection. From The Beach Boys, to the Bee Gees, to Cheap Trick, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, my classic rock foundation was solidified. I spent my formative tween and teen years playing guitar and singing, sometimes horribly, sometimes pretty darn well, and always fun. Playing with friends, whether we knew the song or not, was a magical experience. The power of playing a song from beginning to end, sharing responsibility, taking pride in your part, and being proud of your bandmates’ parts, is just indescribable. The art of teamwork, and a teamwork of art.

I attended the Berklee College of music, receiving a partial scholarship for songwriting, and graduated with a degree in Film Scoring. Since then, I’ve done, and still do a little bit of everything, like writing music for independent films, for corporate videos, writing jingles, writing rock songs, playing in bands, touring, producing and arranging. I’ve played with Will Dailey (Wheelkick Records), Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo), Senior Happy (CBS Records), Worshipper (Tee Pee Records), Waltham (Rykodisc), among others. Currently, I record and perform with Boston Music Award nominee, Magen Tracy and the Missed Connections, and my own band Airport. Some of my songs have appeared on Dawson’s Creek, The Amazing Race, and Fox Sports. One time I auditioned for the Foo Fighters. Come by and I’ll tell you about it!

My passion for making music has evolved into a passion for helping kids make music. Let’s rock together!

I pay attention to all the details, and people tell me I’m pretty creative. I’m crazy about kids, and passionate about inspiring them to find their spark, their confidence, and their voice. Most of all, I can’t wait to see you all rock out!

Steve Chandy is a singer songwriter, guitarist, performer, teacher and producer.

He started writing songs and performing them when he was twelve years old. At the age of fourteen he taught himself guitar and was part of a successful church band called Smsessions in Philadelphia for six years.

He studied psychology as an undergraduate student and worked as a recreation specialist at a neuro-rehab facility. However, his love for music drove him to step into the music industry full-time and leave his profession.

He performed throughout the Philadelphia region, first as a street busker, where he would find gigs, to being part of band and a non-profit organization called Beatpeace Inc.

He has performed in many world renowned venues like World Cafe live, The Apollo and as a member of a Beatpeace, opened for the rapper Common. He has been featured on Dreamnation tv’s Acapella series, toured the country and released an album with Beatpeace Inc.

He has started several music programs and has worked as a mentor and music teacher for children and youth in West Philadelphia. His work has mostly taken place teaching guitar, vocals, creative writing and music theory to children and youth who have not had access to music classes within their own schools.

He has seen how music allows people to find another mean of communicating with others, helps them cope in productive and healthy ways, and empowers them to express themselves.

He moved to Boston with his wife and hopes to continue School of Rock’s success in Natick. He is currently writing and finishing up his debut solo album.

Aaron began playing bass at the age of 16, after seeing a need for it when most of his friends began picking up other instruments like guitar and drums. Soon after, Aaron was playing with the youth praise band at his church, performing and rehearsing on a weekly basis. Aaron went on to attend Georgia State University where he received a Bachelors of Music with a concentration in Music Recording Technology. During his time at GSU, Aaron studied Jazz Bass as well as performing in a multitude of various ensembles spanning many different musical genres. After graduating, Aaron worked in several studios in the Atlanta area and has performed in various venues around the Southeast and Seattle. Over the years Aaron has been able to take up other instruments such as piano, guitar, and drums, to help him achieve his goal of always expanding his musical horizons. Aaron has also previously worked at the School of Rock in Atlanta, GA and Issaquah, WA. It is through his own love of learning that Aaron began to teach to pass on the incredible gift of music. Aaron’s hope is in helping each student find their own creative, musical voice, whichever direction that may lead, while also trying to realize what he can learn from his students.

Playing music is the coolest and most rewarding thing I get to do. The second is teaching and getting others to play. I have been playing music most of my life, and I've been teaching for many years.
I have had the pleasure of playing in a ton of bands since I was a teenager, from surf rock to death metal to jazz. I was also fortunate enough to get to attend Berklee College of Music with a scholarship, which brought me to Massachusetts from San Diego. I've played all over Southern California and continue to play around the Boston Area, playing with my bluegrass band Hedgerow, and doing jazz gigs at local clubs.
Teaching at the School of Rock is such a tremendous blast! The students have such an awesome time, it makes the progress and work we do together super fulfilling.

Born and raised just south of Baltimore, MD, Tim's passion for music was sparked early on thanks to his father's fine ear for great songs. Music from all genres were present at home, from the Beatles, to Van Halen, to Parliament-Funkadelic, to Norah Jones - nothing was off limits. Tim began playing guitar and drums at the age of 12, focusing primarily on rock and blues music. Upon graduating high school in 2011, Tim was accepted to Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, but ultimately decided not to attend. A year later, he auditioned at the Berklee College of Music on a whim and has lived in the Boston area ever since. During his time in college, Tim's playing horizons began to broaden greatly thanks to professors Mike Williams, Jeff Lockhart, and Thaddeus Hogarth, studying everything from country finger-picking to disco rhythm guitar. Finding his niche in funk music, Tim enjoyed a short stint as the guitar player for Worcester-based soul/rock band Blue Light Bandits throughout the majority of 2014. After his first gig with BLB opening for Sublime tribute band Badfish in Syracuse, NY, Tim experienced shows at many different types of venues, from nightclubs and cigar bars to outdoor festivals and vineyards. Tim earned his bachelor's degree from Berklee in guitar performance in 2016, and has been teaching private lessons ever since. In the fall of 2017, he also earned a position as a music teacher at North Andover Public Schools where he teaches guitar and piano courses.

  • “School of Rock is the best thing we have done for our three children. They learn selfconfidence, teamwork, and musicianship in an environment that is safe and free of the typical agebarrier restrictions that are often inherent in other student activities. The youngest and oldest kids in the school work together and everyone is an equal on stage. I wish other youth activities were as welcoming.”
    - Tony C., parent, Great Valley, PA
  • “"I can't tell you what an enriching experience this has been for our whole family and especially for Josh. The instructors there were so much more than teachers for Josh, they were his idols and his role models. It has been an amazing time, and I know that as Josh gets older he will look back on all the memories he made at the SOR fondly. You have created something special there, and I hope you understand what an impact your efforts have had on the lives of these children.Thank you for everything!"”
    - Tim Gallagher, Father of School of Rock Denver student
  • “School of Rock has taught me how to perform in public with selfconfidence.”
    - Dan, 18, Downingtown, PA
  • “You want your kid to be passionate about something, whether it be sports, scouts, dance or whatever. School of Rock does this for my son. We have discovered a talent we didn't know he had. My son would live at School of Rock if he could. We've already recommended the program to several friends.”
    - Susan Snyder, Clifton, VA
