About School of Rock Atlanta

Welcome to School of Rock Atlanta—a haven for aspiring musicians who love rock n’ roll. We believe live performance is the most fun and effective way to teach an instrument, which is why we get kids playing on stage as quickly as possible. Our classes are tailored to all age groups and levels of proficiency, and instructors are passionate about creating a legacy of music by helping students succeed in music and beyond.

We also believe that music is more than a solo act. That’s why School of Rock Atlanta teaches kids to play alone and as part of a team. This approach promotes accountability, speeds up the learning process, and fosters an inclusive community of rockers in Atlanta. Students are not only learning an instrument—they’re making friends, building confidence, and becoming better people.

At School of Rock Atlanta, we believe that playing real music is the only path to proficiency and a true appreciation for music.

In Rock 101, students select one instrument to study, and we begin teaching fundamentals: scales, chords, notes, time signatures, and all the rest. Our unique approach to music instruction teaches our students vital fundamentals through songs they know and love, not rote memorization. With real musical context in a fun environment, we give all of our students the knowledge they need to really pursue their passion for music.

Paul has played drums since the age of nine. The moment he held a pair of drumsticks, he knew it would be a life-long pursuit. His love of drumming has lead to many opportunities for him within the music industry, including live performance; live sound engineering; private instruction; radio & TV; Musical Instrument and Consumer Electronics Retail and his chosen degree field: B.S. Music Recording Technology. Most recently the drummer for Philadelphia, PA based band The Loud Company, he currently works as a free-lance drummer/percussionist in Atlanta, GA. Being both self taught and studied, Paul understands that students learn in different ways. As an instructor, it is his hope that through being able to read basic music notation and implement active listening skills, new drummers will be able to grasp the fundamentals of how playing the drums can become their own life-long pursuit! His drumming influences range from Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich, to Dennis Chambers and Stewart Copeland; Carter Beauford and Dave Weckl, to John Bonham and Steve Gadd; Brann Dailor and Thomas Lang.
As General Manager of School of Rock Atlanta, it is his intention to have everyone making music and HAVING FUN WHILE DOING IT!!!

Dan began playing guitar at the age of 14. Coming from a family with a mother who is a gospel singer and a father who had a deep love for music, his transition into a musician was a fluid and seamless one. After some initial teaching and schooling, he became largely self-taught as his musical journey continued. Dan did some touring with bands he started in the underground punk and hardcore scene in Northern California before joining the band he currently plays with, Set Your Goals. Dan has toured for many years with Set Your Goals, playing festivals and shows all over the world, from the US, Mexico and Canada to Europe, Asia and Australia. Dan hopes to teach students how to channel their passion for music into their performance and inspire them with knowledge and wisdom he has gained from his extensive touring experience.

Linda was born into a musical family, and started playing the piano by ear, at age 3.
As a child, she took piano lessons for 3 years, then drum lessons for 4 years, and then, at age 14, discovered the guitar. She taught herself to play the guitar, in order to join a school guitar club, and has considered it her main instrument, ever since. In the 12th grade, she started studying jazz guitar and theory at a small music school in Johnston, R.I. In college, Linda studied jazz guitar, theory, composition, and ear-training, at the Mannes Conservatory of Music, in New York City, where she also learned to play the bass guitar. After leaving college, Linda took a luthiery (guitar building) course at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery, in Phoenix, Az, and earned a Certificate of Luthiery. She then moved to Jerusalem, Israel, where she lived for 10 years, teaching guitar and performing with a variety of other musicians and bands, playing jazz, rock, folk, bluegrass, and Israeli music. While living in Israel, she also played bass and banjo on the all-women's band Tofa'ah's first album, and recorded an album of original folk-style songs.
Since moving back to the U.S., Linda has taught private guitar, bass, banjo, and keyboard lessons, as well as music classes for preschools, and has performed with various musicians and bands. She currently plays the bass with the Bob Jeter N Friends band. As a teacher, Linda tries to find out how each student learns best, and tailors the lessons to meet the needs, interests, and learning styles of each student.

  • “Great program. Through music and performance, kids build their confidence and feel they belong to something that connects them to others and the world. The program is well organized and there are always venues to perform at that encourage kids to showcase their hard work.”
    — Barbara V., Mother of School of Rock Atlanta student
  • “SOR provides my son ongoing opportunities to learn more challenging material on guitar. He has been involved with SOR for 7 years. During this time my son has learned to master his instrument, play other instruments, write lyrics and songs, and professionally perform, with the stage presence of a true rocker. SOR assists him to push outside of his comfort zone to learn new skills and genres of music,i.e.jazz. He recently had a paid guitar part in a musical, and he will be recording the performance this summer. About 6 months ago, he formed his own band. In the summer of 2015, he was an unpaid SOR intern, assisting kids with less experience to play and perform. He is a natural leader and mentor; SOR has fostered these important life skills. All of this would not be possible without the instruction and support of SOR Atlanta. Thank you!!! ”
    — Lisa M., Mother of School of Rock Atlanta student
  • “The environment and staff at this school are conducive to building confidence in each child in a way that cannot be done by parents or peers. This program can truly transform your child and their outlook on their future. It is a priceless program and an answered prayer for us! ”

  • “In addition to learning from his teacher, our son is constantly learning from everyone there, staff and students alike. It is a great, immersive environment that goes way beyond traditional music lessons. In addition, the live performances keep him motivated to improve his playing. ”
