Derek Engstrom has been playing drums for 17 years and performing professionally for 11 years. He is a versatile musician who began his training through classic rock music, and has since become accomplished in funk, R&B, jazz and Latin jazz. He performs regularly with Leisure Chief, where he functions as songwriter and drummer, and also plays percussion for the Latin jazz fusion quartet Con Leche. He has opened for national acts Robert Cray and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band among others, and has performed at venues such as The Social, The Plaza Theater, The Abbey and The Orlando Museum of Art.

Derek is eager to share his love of music and drumming skills with his students.

Patrick Moreno piano Teacher

From the first time he sat at a piano, Patrick has been exploring the possibilities of music as both an art form and a method of communication. He started learning piano at the age of 12 and began to study guitar at 15. During this time, he was influenced largely by musicians like Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Béla Bartók. From listening to these musicians, Patrick developed a unique sense of rhythmic, harmonic and melodic motion which he is still honing today.
