School of Rock Oklahoma City’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. From singing to drums to guitar, our Oklahoma City music instructors inspire and teach students to perform live.
Courtney Hooker Singing Teacher
Courtney has been singing and performing since she was 12 years old. She grew up training herself and continues to grow and train others as well. She is a student at ACM@UCO, graduating this year with an Associates in Vocal Performance and will continue to pursue a Bachelor's degree. Courtney released her first solo album at 16 years old, recording with award-winning producers in Los Angeles. Later, she joined a trio called OK3, where she gained experience and skill with harmonies and working within a group of musicians. OK3 works with an L.A.-based, award-winning management team, Artistry Worldwide, where they have traveled and worked with numerous other producers. Courtney has traveled the U.S and Canada, most notably performing with OK3 at Calgary's annual Stampede Festival. OK3 released their first single, "Taste of My Love," in May 2017. Courtney continues to write, record, train, and grow as a performer and recording artist.
Mike Vaughan Bass Guitar Teacher
Music is his life. Even though this is an over-used musician’s cliché, there is no better way to describe Mike Vaughan. Every minute of the day, Mike is working on something music-related. He is a Music Director at School of Rock OKC by day, record producer and a recording engineer for local artists and musicians in his personal studio by night. His education began at Berklee College of Music where he studied Jazz Harmony and Electronic Music Production & Design. Mike finished his Bachelor’s degree in 2018 studying Contemporary Music Production at ACM@UCO. At School Of Rock, Mike strives to challenge his students everyday by blending jazz harmony concepts into a digestible rock approach. This allows his students to not only read and write their own charts and sheet music but also teaches them to critically analyze the music that they play and listen to while being able to effectively communicate their ideas intelligently to their peers. Mike is also active in the local music scene as the bass player for the local instrumental progressive-rock band Magic Munchbox. Mike brings energy and passion to our team, making his love for music contagious.
