Olivia BuscemiGeneral Manager
Olivia Buscemi is a well-established musician who has had classical training in violin and piano, as well as extensive and varied contemporary music experience. Additionally, she has abundantly written and recorded in various rock, southern rock and alternative rock bands. Her former bands include Lowletter, Randy Watson, and Aaron Lee and the Love Vigilantes. Aaron Lee the Love are under contract and supported by EMI, Universal, Light-year and Visionary Records, giving Ms. Buscemi solid experience with the requirements needed within a band signed by a label. Olivia studied the violin at Palomar College to receive her degree in Music and Performance. For two years she studied very closely with Ulli Riener, a highly accomplished violinist in the San Diego area. From the age of six, Ms. Buscemi has been a member of many chamber strings and civic orchestras. Olivia is now currently playing the fiddle in a well-known band called Lexington Field, an American Field rock group based out of the San Diego area. In 2013 Lexington Field was nominated by San Diego Music Awards for Best Alternative Album. Her extensive experience in both classical and contemporary musical experience and training give her a wide, unique, extensive and savvy array of musical knowledge and experience.
Matt RothsteinGuitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Matt was a student at the original Paul Green School of Rock in Philadelphia from 2001-2004. While there, he was a member of the AllStars and played the Zappanale festival in Germany and toured the U.S. playing the music of Frank Zappa with Zappa alumni Napoleon Murphy Brock. He enrolled in Drexel University's Music Industry program in 2004 and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in 2008. He taught bass and guitar at School of Rock Downingtown and School of Rock Wilmington throughout college. From 2006-present, he's been the co-founder, bassist and background vocalist for the band Cheers Elephant. They have released three full-length albums and multiple singles, with two million plus listens on Spotify. Their song "Leaves" reached #1 on Hype Machine in 2012 and "Airliner" reached #1 in 2015. He's played multiple national tours and SXSW Official in 2013 and 2014. He's licensed numerous songs featured on advertisements and TV shows (Sperry Topsider, Drexel University, Virgin Banking, "The Real World," Victory Brewing, ABC Family). From 2009-2014 he was Branch Manager at School of Rock Main Line (Berwyn, PA).
Jason SimmonsGuitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Jason Simmons is a highly knowledgeable and experienced performing musician, audio engineer and composer. He received his music education formally from Mira Costa College as well as from playing guitar and bass in a variety of styles with bands here in San Diego. Eventually he went on to teach guitar courses for his college and received several vocational degrees and certifications in the fields of music technology including live sound reinforcement, recording arts and computer audio production. He currently writes and performs with his fellow instructors in their group The Blue Moonies. Sharing influences of soul, reggae, funk, and rock and roll they have played at many legendary venues such as the Belly Up Tavern and have opened for national acts such as the Plain White T's. His main focus at School of Rock is to empower the students with all the information they would need to make it as modern musicians.
Kai TaylorDrum Teacher
Kai is a hard-working studio drummer and producer who performs with a variety of musicians, as well as independent projects. In his years of experience, he has collaborated with multiple studio engineers and artists around Southern California, and has gained two years of academic experience in Audio Production at The Art Institute of California, San Diego. Some of his recent accomplishments include writing and recording his band's most recent EP, touring the west coast, enrolling in school and getting through his first year with the Palomar College Jazz Ensemble. Kai takes great pride in his ability to persevere through his goals and ambitions, while eagerly encouraging others to achieve the same. An environment that demands a positive attitude and dependability are where he thrives the most. The opportunity to share his knowledge of music is an honor, and he looks forward to shredding away with you in the future.
Noah RabeSinging Teacher, piano Teacher
Noah has been playing music and performing his entire life. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Noah began taking piano lessons at the age of five. As he got older he fell in love with many other instruments. He started taking voice lessons when he was 14. This fueled his desire to make a career using music. At the age of 13 he joined a band that had management in Nashville and through that opportunity Noah played in all 48 continental U.S. states before the age of 16. Since then he has released two self-titled albums. He also graduated from Ocean’s Edge Music School focusing on vocals, and recently started a non-profit organization and a band that uses their music to raise money for relationship abuse awareness.
