Greg Elingburg Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher

Greg was inspired to pick up his first instrument, the drums, at the age of nine after discovering the music of Nirvana. Self-taught and playing entirely by ear, he has added guitar, bass, ukulele and some very light piano to his repertoire of instruments. Over the last 20 years, he has played in several bands covering many genres including alternative rock, metal, hardcore, punk, surf, indie rock, shoegaze, acoustic rock, prog and hip hop.

He started composing music at the age of 13 for bands and solo projects, and he has gone on to write, perform and record original compositions, scores, and sound design for plays and theatre companies in the Richmond area and Greensboro, NC. A few of Greg's musical accomplishments are co-composing and performing on a song for a music compilation of up-and-coming buzz bands that went out to radio stations across the nation and winning several Battle of the Bands competitions over the years. He has DJed and hosted a radio show for Radio Disney and has produced, recorded and mixed music for local bands.

Greg loves nothing more than seeing others become inspired and excited by music. He strives to help his students foster a lifetime of enjoyment with their instrument and stresses the importance of camaraderie in the arts. He is grateful to work with such an awesome group of musicians and be a part of the School of Rock family.

Mark Henderson Drum Teacher

Mark Henderson, professional drummer and educator, has been performing since 1987, and teaching lessons since 1999. His musical journey started at the age of nine in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA, where he quickly became immersed in the music community, playing drums for nearly every ensemble that warranted it, including a nationally-recognized and accomplished marching band and Pennsylvania state award-winning jazz ensembles. Mark received his formal training in orchestral, marching and jazz percussion from the James Madison University. His work since has been primarily focused on the drum kit. In 2006, music led him to Richmond, where, today, he continues to work extensively on his craft. You can find Mark performing with a variety of touring, writing and recording projects in and around the Richmond area, covering many genres that include rock, folk, bluegrass, jazz, country, funk, blues and hip-hop. Mark has performed with some of the area's top touring and recording bands, including Jackass Flats and The Southern Belles. Mark has been a highly sought-after private instructor, mentoring aspiring musicians of all ages. He has also worked with local organizations in pursuing an objective to facilitate interactive rhythm experiences that integrate music education and expressive arts with communication, motivation and community building.
