School of Rock Miami’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. From singing to drums to guitar, our Miami music instructors inspire and teach students to perform live.
Chris Veliz Drum Teacher
Chris Veliz is the General Manager of School of Rock Miami. He started off as a student of the school, eventually got a job cleaning the school, then teaching, then directing, then became the Music Director and finally moved on to where he is now. He loves the school and strives to see it grow and flourish. He's a drummer mainly and plays in the local band EarlyBird on the side. He is also a drum teacher.
Tyler Chung Studio Coordinator
Tyler started out as a student here at School of Rock Miami when he was 14 years old. After he finished his time as a student he made his transition into teacher and now he is our Studio Coordinator. He’s here to help you with any School of Rock related questions you may have.
Inspired by "Guitar Hero" and his mother's expansive record collection, Arturo Arbelaez took a guitar and began learning from as many different teachers and sources as he could. He eventually found a home at School of Rock Miami and has since become a teacher and made passing on the knowledge and love for music his priority. Bass and guitar are his specialties, but he has an in-depth understanding of music theory and songwriting.
Mario Fontes Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Mario performs in local Miami bands spanning the folk rock, power pop and punk rock genres. While attending Berklee College of Music, Mario spent four years studying jazz and classical theory, ear training and bass guitar technique with a special focus on songwriting. Given his specific field of study, he approaches musicianship from a heavily songwriting-influenced standpoint and emphasizes the importance of understanding as many different styles of music as possible. He is excited to be a part of the School of Rock Miami family and help kids become the musicians they want to be!
Javier Rebollar Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Piano Teacher, Drum Teacher, Vocal Instructor
Born in Cuba to a family of musicians, Javier Rebollar provides a diverse perspective on music from many styles and points of view. Since attending Berklee College of Music and performing extensively in New Jersey and NY, Javier has experienced many roles as musician, engineer and songwriter. A multi-instrumentalist through and through, he encourages students to use their ear and expand their understanding of music theory to gain command of important concepts and see the big picture, regardless of instrument. He is a guitar teacher, bass guitar teacher, piano teacher, drum teacher and vocal instructor at School of Rock Miami.
Ettienne Fuentes Drum Teacher
Born in Puerto Rico, Ettienne Fuentes has been playing drums for over 30 years. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Studio Music and Jazz from the University of Miami. He has worked with artists such as Marc Anthony, Chayanne, Alejandro Fernandez, Chuck Mangione, Nestor Torres, Letha Galloway, Arturo Sandoval, Dom Um Rumao, Debbie Spring, Ira Sullivan and more. Ettienne currently plays in the groups Yerba Blue, Featured on Fridays, The Brass Evolution and Amereida. He is a drum teacher at School of Rock Miami.
