Programs we offer

Rookies music program for children
Rookies
Ages 6-8

At School of Rock Johns Creek, our music program for children with no previous musical experience (typically ages 6 to 8-years-old) is called Rookies. Rookies students have one weekly group music lesson where they learn fundamentals like chords, rhythm and song structure. Kids get to learn and experiment with multiple instruments so they can later decide which one they ultimately want to continue pursuing in Rock 101. We offer two rookies "tier" programs: Rookies and Master Rookies. Rookies is a 60-minute weekly class for 6 & 7 year olds. Master Rookies is a 30-minute weekly lesson and an hour group rehearsal.

The Path to Take the Stage

All of our music programs are designed to inspire students to learn and develop a strong musical proficiency. At School of Rock Johns Creek, younger students who are not ready for a more comprehensive program like Rock 101 can start in Rookies. No prior musical experience is needed for Rookies. Once your child is ready for private music lessons (typically older than first or second graders), they will graduate into our Rock 101 program.

Ages 9-11

Rock 101 is one of School of Rock Johns Creek's top programs for kids and beginners. Students have one weekly group rehearsal where they learn to play classic rock songs that have been simplified for beginner musicians. Additionally, Rock 101 students in Johns Creek have a weekly private music lesson with an instructor who helps them learn the concepts and skills behind their performance songs.

The Path to Take the Stage

Our music programs for kids in Johns Creek are designed to get students on stage performing, with the goal of building strong musical proficiency. Younger students at School of Rock Johns Creek who have participated in the Rookies program can move to our Rock 101 music program once they’re ready. Additionally, students (typically ages 9 to 11-years-old) can begin Rock 101 without any prior experience. The goal of this rock program is to quickly develop a basic competence on students’ chosen instruments before moving on to our famous Performance Program.

Ages 13-18

The Performance Program at School of Rock Johns Creek is our hallmark music program, where tens of thousands of students enroll each year. It consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, refining the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances. Every few months, School of Rock Johns Creek Performance Program students take the stage and play at local Johns Creek music venues in front of a live audience.

The Path to Take the Stage

School of Rock Johns Creek's music programs for kids and teens are designed to inspire by getting students on stage and performing. All of our other music education programs focus on readying students for our famous Performance Program. This is where students develop incredible musical skills. Performance Program students have often gone through our Rock 101 program first or have some previous basic music experience. These young musicians will have custom development plans outlined by their instructors with key concepts reinforced during private lessons and group rehearsals, all with the goal of performing live at a Johns Creek music venue. Each show is more than just a recital. They are rock concerts. Shows themes are chosen to assist in the educational development of our students while engaging them in great music.

Adult music program for students over 18
Adult Program
Ages 18+

School of Rock Johns Creek's Adult Program is for students over 18 years old who are looking to either improve their musical proficiency or pick up an instrument with no prior musical experience. As with most School of Rock music programs, the Adult Program uses a performance-based music education approach. This means the curriculum focuses on learning music concepts and applying them in a live performance setting. Our Adult Music Program includes one weekly private music lesson and a weekly group rehearsal. Every student at School of Rock Johns Creek is placed in a band of fellow adults and then assigned specific songs as a way of learning key music concepts and skills. Adult students then take the stage to play at a live show in Johns Creek.

All of our music programs are designed to inspire by getting students on stage and performing, with the goal of building strong musical proficiency along the way. The School of Rock Johns Creek Adult Program is open to all experience levels and each student will follow a customized learning plan developed by their instructor. Adult students will work together during rehearsal to prepare for a live performance at a real rock venue in Johns Creek.

Age 12-18

The School of Rock Johns Creek House Band music program gives students under 18 the opportunity to join a gigging band composed of fellow musicians from their school. These students perform additional live shows throughout the year. All students in the Performance Program have the opportunity to audition for a spot in School of Rock Johns Creek's House Band. Once selected, House Band members become leaders in their School of Rock community and perform live shows at GA rock venues throughout the year.

The Path to Take the Stage

Performance is the core of School of Rock's educational approach. Therefore, we create additional opportunities for students to perform on stages throughout Johns Creek and the rest of GA. The House Band music program allows each school's most talented students the opportunity to join a band and play routinely in front of live audiences. Once a member, students will gain real music experience associated with gigging musicians and will become leaders and mentors inside the School of Rock community.

AllStars
Age 17 and Under

The School of Rock AllStars Tour takes the very best students from around the world and sends them on a nationwide summer tour across the United States. Less than 1% of School of Rock students are selected each year to represent School of Rock as an AllStar. All Performance Program students are eligible to audition for this prestigious program. The intensive audition process starts off with video submissions followed by live auditions. Once selected, AllStar students will have an authentic touring experience including traveling on a tour bus, doing tour publicity and starring in nightly performances at famous venues and festivals during a two-week tour.

The Path to Take the Stage

Becoming an AllStar is the highest level of achievement for a School of Rock student. They play on legendary stages large and small, including The Knitting Factory, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Troubadour and Lollapalooza. AllStar students often go on to have accomplished careers in the music industry. Former AllStars have gone on to become touring artists, star in Broadway musicals, get signed to record deals, become finalists on talent competitions like "The Voice" and "American Idol" and have other notable roles in the music industry.

Ages 13-19

The Center Stage Artist Search Program is an opportunity to be heard by a major record label. Singers from the ages of 13-19 can submit an audition video as part of the selection process. Selected artists will then have the chance to participate in a studio recording session, and perform at a live artist showcase with record label executives in Los Angeles. We'll also provide School of Rock songwriting camp scholarships for 100 applicants. Submit your video audition today.

Beginner Keyboard Lessons for Kids

At School of Rock we teach differently than other music schools in Johns Creek. Our curriculum is performance-based, meaning that we prepare students to perform. Our piano lessons for beginners combine weekly private instruction with weekly band rehearsals. At School of Rock Johns Creek, our beginner keyboard lessons for kids take key concepts and music fundamentals—finger placement, scales, key differentiation and more—and teach them through popular rock songs. This approach inspires and engages students, which results in attaining a high level of musical proficiency. Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, piano Teacher

DJ Rees Music Director

DJ is a highly motivated musician with a comprehensive background in performance, composition/arranging and music business. Holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Georgia, he has more than seven years of experience in a variety of ensembles and bands. DJ has performed in several of Georgia's top venues, including The Georgia Theatre, The Classic Center, UGA's Performing Arts Center, The 40 Watt Club, The Masquerade, Terminal West at King Plow and The Hard Rock Cafe. He has also performed alongside many national touring acts and well-known musicians, including Perpetual Groove, Moon Taxi and Sunny Ortiz of Widespread Panic. Currently, DJ is performing around the Southeast under the name The Doug Rees Band, a solo venture that was formed in August of 2015. His influences include Phish, Umphrey's McGee, The Grateful Dead, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Keller Williams, among many others.

Archie O'Neal Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher

Archie is a bass, guitar and drum instructor with School of Rock Johns Creek. He has played guitar and bass for 10 years on stage and in the studio. Never too keen on pigeonholing, Archie has also performed with bands in and around Atlanta on drums, vocals, clarinet, saxophone and mandolin in such diverse genres as hard rock, jazz, indie pop, punk and bluegrass, lending him a variety of musical viewpoints to explore with students. Archie graduated from Georgia Tech and spends his free time trying to turn his house into a recording studio without his roommate noticing.

Daniel Garneau Guitar Teacher, piano Teacher

Daniel has been involved with music for 15 years, learning to play a variety of instruments including guitar, bass, piano and French horn. He has been writing his own music for nearly 10 years, spanning several genres from classical to rock to pop. He is a graduate of Armstrong State University with a degree in Music Composition.

Keifer Johnson Guitar Teacher, Piano Teacher, Singing Teacher

Keifer is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and arranger from Atlanta, GA. His musical journey began when he picked up the trombone at the age of 11. After that, he started to pick up all of the instruments that he could get his hands on including keyboard, saxophone, euphonium, tuba, guitar and bass. Keifer has performed in live and studio settings all over the United States, with his journey leading him to performing with Grammy Award-winning artist Ne-Yo at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA, performing for President Barack Obama at Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington D.C., providing backing horns for the band '68's sophomore album "Two Parts Viper" and performing at various festivals across the country including SXSW in Austin, TX, Imagine Music Festival in Atlanta, GA and a date at the 2016 Vans Warped Tour in Pomona, CA.

Keifer is currently a member of theSAGAS with fellow Johns Creek instructors Dustin Williams and Benjamin White. He also does session work in the city of Atlanta. Keifer is excited to be a a part of the School of Rock Johns Creek staff, and is looking forward to imparting his experience, wisdom and love of music on the younger wave of musicians.

Benjamin White Drum Teacher

Benjamin is a drum instructor here at School of Rock. He has been writing and recording music for the last 15 years and has played with a variety of artists throughout the southeast. After attending the Atlanta Institute of Music, Benjamin honed his skills in the Atlanta jam scene, playing all genres. He is seasoned in the studio and on stage and is currently sitting behind the kit for the Atlanta band The Sagas. He looks forward to sharing his skills with all the up-and-coming musicians at School of Rock.

Alexis DeJuan General Manager

Alexis was born in Edmonton, Alberta but raised in Woodstock, Georgia. From a young age, she has always had a passion towards the performing arts. At age 13, Alexis started taking violin lessons as well as auditioning for plays and musicals. In her later teens, she taught herself guitar and piano.

Alexis has a B.B.A in International Business with honors and a minor in French Studies from Kennesaw State University. Alexis is also certified through the Joel A. Katz Music and Entertainment Business Program. Through MEBUS, she traveled to London and visited sites such as Sony UK and Abbey Road Studios as well as built elementary skills in audio engineering. Alexis loves working in an industry that she is passionate about alongside people who share the same love for music and entertainment.

Dustin Williams Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Piano Teacher

Dustin is a bass, guitar and drums instructor, as well as the Adult Band Director at School of Rock Johns Creek. He is thrilled to be a member of the staff and looks forward to imparting the knowledge he has gained onto younger and driven musicians exhibiting a level of talent and maturity beyond their years.

Dustin has been playing since the age of 13 when he picked up the bass guitar after realizing his tendency to listen to the groove-city bass lines of John Paul Jones. A fan of Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Sly Stone and many other 70s/80s funk and rock legends, his bass has always with him no matter where he went, including at school.

Dustin’s career has had him working with a Nashville singer/songwriter and while attending college he participated in the Vans Warped Tour with the band Silver Comet, which was an unforgettable tour experience. Like many musicians, Dustin’s sound and band has evolved over the years. This musical evolution led him to a self-booked tour of England and France with band mate and singer Parry Kitt. Dustin’s musical roots have also taken an entrepreneurial turn, as he participated in a music tech business incubator called Zoo Labs. He worked alongside former Google executives and the founder of Dropbox. Dustin is the founder of his own record label, Wake Records, and is a member of the band theSAGAS, which has toured the U.S., including playing South by South West (SXSW) and most recently the Vans Warped Tour in Pomona, California.

Bobby Stocking Drum Teacher

Robert (Bobby) is a percussionist and drum instructor based in Atlanta, Georgia. He has played drums for 12 years, with performance experience with ensembles ranging from metal to jazz bands, and marching band to pit orchestras. Robert currently plays snare drum with the Atlanta Falcons drumline, and teaches rudimental percussion with several local high school bands. He is a graduate from Georgia Tech with a BA in Physics. He is currently a member of Band Identikit with another School of Rock instructor and fellow GT alum, Archie O’Neal.

Parry Kit Singing Teacher, Piano Teacher

Parry is a 27-year-old singer, songwriter and frontman. With over 10 years of performance experience, he has taken stage in the punk rock, pop, metal and gospel arenas. Parry has recorded various albums and has co-written original music that was landed on Billboard HeatSeekers charts. Parry’s vocal style can be described as soulful, soothing, melodic grit. He has previously studied Vocal Performance at Kennesaw State University and currently is lead vocalist/frontman for soul punk band The Sagas.

Reyna Kirkland Singing Teacher, Piano Teacher, Guitar Teacher

Reyna developed her love of music over the course of her high school career, teaching herself to play the guitar, bass and ukulele while also taking on various vocal projects such as choir and dramatic theatre. By the end of her adolescence, she had made the decision to pursue music on a more serious level and obtained her B.S. in Music Production and Composition from Full Sail University. She later moved to Atlanta in early 2018 to focus on songwriting and her own artistic development. Currently she resides in the Johns Creek area while working on her first solo release as a singer/songwriter.

Jeremiah Funke Guitar Teacher

Jeremiah Funke is a producer, songwriter and guitarist. He has performed with various artists, ranging from worship groups to heavy metal bands. Currently, he is playing guitar for the SAGAS, a soulful rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. Jeremiah's productions are comprised of hip-hop, pop and R&B style compositions. As a music instructor, he focuses on a greater understanding of music theory and encourages his students to write their own music from the heart. He is a guitar teacher at School of Rock John's Creek.

Haseena Peera Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Vocal Instructor

Haseena Peera is a guitar teacher, bass guitar teacher and vocal instructor at School of Rock Johns Creek. At age 13 she attended a School of Rock summer camp, which jumpstarted her journey into music. By her teens she was recording her own original music and playing around Atlanta. Now Haseena plays in various musical projects, has been played on the radio and has toured with multiple groups. Education is her favorite thing, so Haseena teaches art classes and runs open music jams for adults when she's not helping kids at School of Rock. She is super excited to be teaching here and helping young ones find their voice within music.
