House Band Auditions!!!
Weds, Aug 21st
It's time for the next official round of auditions for the School of Rock Issaquah House Band! What is the "House Band" you ask? Our House Band kids play for festivals, benefits, city events, fundraisers and other fun events to represent School of Rock to the public.
Each round of House Band lasts six months (Sept-Feb and Mar-Aug), so the next audition after this won’t be until February. Our rehearsals will run every Wednesday from 7-9 PM.
Shows will be booked throughout the season, with gigs historically ranging from playing in front of 10 people to over 1,000. Past shows have included Salmon Days, the Puyallup Fair, and even a sold-out Showbox opening for Phantogram! If you are interested in auditioning, then read on!
The Audition Process
The auditions will be held on Weds, Aug 21st from 5:30-9:00 pm (you can choose the time slot which best suits you - sign-up sheets have been posted at the School). Each student will choose a primary instrument (vocals, guitar, bass, keys, or drums) to audition for, though students are welcome to audition on secondary instruments as well (using multiple time slots).
Performance Song: "Eyes of a Stranger" by Queensryche
Please reference the music video version (it’s the exact same as the album version but doesn’t have the medley ending), and be prepared to play the entire song. Guitarists should learn everything including both parts of the harmonized guitar solo. Vocalists should know all of the harmonies (they change from chorus to chorus). See Zakk with any questions on the song.
MUST HAVE A GREAT ATTITUDE! House band students must treat all others with kindness and respect, and be mentors for other students.
Must have completed a full cycle of Performance Program, having performed in at least one School of Rock show. Must also be enrolled in Performance Program throughout the full duration of this round.
Must be available to play! If you foresee missing a lot of rehearsals due to other obligations, or plan on being out on vacation for an extended period of time, then we prefer you wait until the next round to audition.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks & good luck!
