INTERVIEW WITH MITCHELL LEE

1. What instruments did you play at SOR Hinsdale, and what is your favorite to play?

I played Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals, and a one note keyboard solo.

2. What is your favorite memory from your time at SOR Hinsdale?

Summerfest! Being able to play amazing stages with tons of housebands from across the world was unreal. It was super cool to see how many other kids are really into music who are all insanely talented. It was also just a ton of fun to be with the houseband for a few days!

3. What was your favorite PP show and why?

My favorite was the Smashing Pumpkins/Madonna Show. Pumpkins had a fantastic cast with really challenging songs which we are all able to pull off. Madonna was even harder where we had to really think creatively in how to pull off the show. The two genres couldn’t be more opposite and playing both together was challenging and tons of fun.

3. Where are you going to school?

Berklee College of Music!

5. You made the Allstars cast in 2020.  What advice can you give to our students who might want to become an Allstar too?

Practice really is everything. I used to be super lazy about practice and relied on natural skill to get me there. I learned after failing to make Allstars the first time that I really needed to start putting in work. I continued to fail the next two years but I simply just kept practicing my parts and working on being a better musician. Allstars is totally achievable, you just really have to work hard for it!
