Programas

  • School of Rock Vienna's Performance Program is all about translating our students' abilities to play in the lesson room to performing for real on stage. In addition to refining their overall skill and proficiency as musicians, students learn what comes with being part of a band: teamwork, collaboration, and the special brand of fun that only comes from sharing awesome experiences with others.

Students learn, absorb, and perform iconic hits from some of history's greatest rock and roll performers including The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Van Halen, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and many more. No matter what they perform, our students will learn incredible skills and enjoy epic experiences that will last a lifetime.

All students in Vienna's Performance Program can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly band rehearsal to get students prepared for real shows
    • Real-life performances on stage at amazing venues
    • Advanced instruction in fundamentals such as stage performance, harmonies, musicianship, and more
    • Fun, music, and education wrapped into one all-inclusive experience!

  • School of Rock Vienna’s Rock 101 Program encourages fun and success for our younger students as they begin their journey. The days of traditional instruction with piles of sheet music are over. At School of Rock Vienna, we believe that playing real music is the only path to proficiency and a true appreciation for music.

In Rock 101, students select one instrument to study, and we begin teaching fundamentals: scales, chords, notes, time signatures, and all the rest. Our unique approach to music instruction teaches our students vital fundamentals through songs they know and love, not rote memorization. With real musical context in a fun environment, we give all of our students the knowledge they need to really pursue their passion for music.

All students in Vienna’s Rock 101 Program can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly group rehearsals to reinforce the fundamentals in a team environment
    • A firm grasp of the basics of music theory and technique
    • An understanding of what it means to play solo and in a group
    • Real knowledge gained through real fun!

  • School of Rock Vienna’s top students can audition for our most prestigious honor: the School of Rock AllStars Program. Our AllStars represent the best of the best students from School of Rock’s entire global network of schools. With incredible musical aptitude, a knack for teamwork and incredible focus, today’s AllStars truly represent the future of rock and roll.

Each summer, our AllStars embark on an authentic concert tour to perform in jaw-dropping live shows across the country, including Red Rocks, Lollapalooza, Hangout Music Fest, NAMM, Gathering of the Vibes, and countless others. AllStars also get to share the stage with experienced, larger-than-life performers like Alice Cooper, Eddie Vedder, and Slash, to name a few. There is no better way for a star on the rise to get a taste for what professional music is really like.

School of Rock Vienna’s AllStars can expect:

    • Real-world performances where they can shine in their chosen medium: guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and/or vocals
    • A fast-paced tour experience with stage shows at legendary events and venues
    • To play with the best performers from School of Rock’s global community
    • The opportunity to rock out on stage with world-renowned artists
    • An epic rock experience like no other!

  • School of Rock Vienna’s Rookies Program offers a gateway to understanding music for first and second graders. Using proprietary set-ups for guitar, bass, drums and keyboard, as well as other tools, we introduce our Rookies to music fundamentals in a fun way. The skills and passion for music that our Rookies learn prepare them for Rock 101 and a lifelong love of music.

With exercises, tools and games customized to their age group, our Vienna Rookies learn the concepts of music theory, rhythm, pitch, form and dynamics as they play alongside their friends. We encourage our students to explore various instruments and play styles so they begin to understand how individual contributions form a band; even the best solo keyboard players or vocalists need to understand how an ensemble works.

All students in Vienna’s Rookies Program can expect:

    • Weekly group lessons using guitar, bass, keyboard and drums
    • Exposure to essential fundamentals like music theory, pitch and rhythm
    • A focus on teamwork and collaboration
    • An understanding of what it means to play solo and in a group
    • Fun combined with practical learning!

  • School of Rock Vienna’s music camps and workshops are designed to bring out the best performance in a fast-paced learning environment. Just like our standard programs, our camps offer a high-energy experience that is fun, creative and team-oriented. Our students learn music by playing it with their peers, guided by experienced instructors from the music community.

From basic Performance Boot Camps to more advanced Guitar Building and Songwriting Training, School of Rock offers opportunities for musicians of all skill levels. Camps vary by location, so please contact us for a current list of camps and workshops at School of Rock Vienna.

Regardless of which camp they choose, students can expect:

    • A deeper appreciation for music theory and fundamentals

As Music Director, Travis is in charge of all student programs, lessons, live performances, and both student and teacher development here in Vienna. Using his skills as a multi-instrumentalist and experienced teacher, Travis strives to build our students' confidence not JUST in music but in their every day lives. He holds degrees in both Entertainment Business and Recording Arts from Full Sail University (Orlando, FL). Travis's experiences and endless desire to become a better musician allows him to dig deep to bring a high level of energy and FUN to all our lessons and groups at School of Rock.

Travis's journey through music started on the piano at age 3, and by age 9 he had moved on to teaching himself guitar while taking private drum lessons from Bill Richards (Section Leader for The United States Army Band). Throughout high school, Travis marched in the snare line as well as sitting in on various instruments with his friend's bands as much as possible. He has since written, performed, and recorded with a number of artists and has held various positions within indie record labels, radio, booking agencies, and studios around the U.S. (Nashville, Miami, Annapolis, DC).

Starting on Trombone at age 9 then moving to tuba and bass at age 15, Basil has always been a practitioner of the low end. Basil holds a minor in music performance from Towson University where he played in several top-level orchestras and chamber ensembles. Basil has recorded and performed on bass for several original bands including Radamanthys, Hyraeth and Funky Duck. Basil specializes in technical metal but has also played rock and funk extensively as well and is no stranger to all of the many styles that electric bass guitar has a home in.

Basil is always looking for new ways to innovate on the instrument, playing 6 and 7-string fretted and fretless basses as well as traditional 4-string. He strives to combine the cerebral intricacies of music with the visceral feelings and emotions of it while always remembering that music is supposed to be fun and inviting, not elitist and exclusive.

Bobby is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and touring musician. His current project, Revelator Hill is a collaboration with some of the finest rock and blues musicians in the Washington DC area, including Seth Morrissey (bass & vocals), Gary Crockett (drums & vocals), Wes Lanich (keyboards), and special guest member Ron Holloway (saxophone). This group is wrought with deep emotion and blazes down the path pioneered by the great Jimi Hendrix, blending deeply-rooted blues traditions with a popular rock edge to create a sound that will stir every soul.
Prior to that the Bobby T Project formed shortly after he finished touring the US with reggae rockers SOJA and See-I. Building a new fase base around the county was a by-product of his being part of 6 to 8 piece bands playing rock shows in front of thousands from California to Vermont. While off the road in January 2010, Bobby started writing new songs from scratch, culminating in his first single 'Good Things That We Have' which was produced by Todd Wright, who also happens to produce Pat McGee, Shane Hines, Toby Lightman, and many other artists in the pop-folk world. The single is Bobby's first excursion into the realm of pop-blues, ala John Mayer and Eric Clapton. It worked, and the song is now a fan favorite. So the songwriting continued and Bobby got together with his band, plus a cast of musical all-stars, like Ron Holloway (Gov't Mule, Dizzie Gillespe, Susan Tedeshi) and Tommy Lepson, and began the sessions that would produce the blues-rock album 'By The Hand'. Released in March 2011 and produced by drummer Gary Crockett, the album represents Bobby's skill with blues, and blues-rock, showcasing both his guitar chops and singing, while never straying from the song. Obvious influences include Ben Harper and Warren Haynes, but you can hear the blues greats, you can hear some Neil Young and Tom Petty and some young Clapton. For Bobby, this is the beginning of his album-making career. His 2nd album is already underway and is a continuation of the sessions for 'Good Things'. Bobby has plans to record an EP with an array of session musicians, to be produced by Todd Wright. Song titles like 'Again', 'I Came To See You', and 'Down To Here' are the first songs to be written in Todd's new studio. Bobby is genuinely excited to be a part of School of Rock and work with our amazing young musicians.

A DC native, Ricardo "P"-Nut Johnson began his musical journey on the bass in the 5 th grade when he received his first instrument '“ a Sears electric guitar. He enjoyed the guitar but then he heard the bass in Rufus and Chaka Khan's Sweet Thing and from that point on "P"-Nut knew he wanted to bea bass player. Hearing of his new obsession, his uncle, a bass player in his own right, loaned him a bass and challenged him to see what he could learn by the time he got back from the road and the rest is history. During his years in the D.C. area, "P"-Nut played with various groups in a variety of styles. He played with the sensational vocal group Prim Degree, the cutting edge gospel group God's Creation, vocalist Gloria Brown and blues great Memphis Gold. In the 90's "P"-Nut toured Europe with the blues legend Memphis Gold. After years of playing on stage he decided to go get his music degree and attended the Music Tech College of Music, now called McNalley Smith, in Minneapolis MN. After graduation he stayed in Minnesota for 10 years where was very active in the music scene and where he taught many aspiring musicians. He played with the blues group The HooDoo Kings , the 12 piece group Arayastone , the reggae mainstay Dred I Dred , the funk band Down with Gravity , jazz guitarist John Penny , and a host of others. When you hear him play you get hints of the his influences like Bootsy, Jimi Hendrix, Parliament and Larry Graham to name a few. "P"-Nut is a consummate bass player and works at his craft continuously. In 2007 he attended Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey's Bass at the Beach and later that year he also attended Victor Wooten's Bass Nature Camp. He learned many things at these camps and has integrated them into his playing and teaching. Tired of the cold of Minnesota and homesick for the sights and sounds of D.C. "P"-nut moved back in the area in 2011. He has played with a number of groups since being back and is happy to be a part of the School Of Rock family.

A multifaceted musician, Kevin has been studying and playing the piano since age 5. The piano has always been his central passion, and although he plays guitar and other string instruments as well, he believes the piano is, of all the instruments, the one most capable of being a full vehicle for musical expression. Needless to say, it is his favorite tool for exploring the musical realm, whether in composition, improvisation, or performing written music. Kevin enjoys all genres of music and received his Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies from George Mason University. He studies piano with renowned DC-area jazz pianist Wade Beach. When not teaching at School of Rock or practicing, Kevin can be found performing at various DC Area restaurants, bars, weddings, church functions, and, oh yeah, he sings and teaches voice too. Kevin has a keen interest in singing, and has performed as a soloist with GMU choirs. Along with his interest in jazz, Kevin enthusiastically pursues Irish traditional music, and performs with Irish bands in the Northern Virginia area.

He is the drummer and composer for the group Kabob-o-taj with whom he has recorded two albums. He also plays with the jazz ensemble Ein Zman and other local rock, folk, and jazz acts. Chanel is our Saturday Studio Coordinator and is tasked with keeping our school running like a top when Brian is not in. She is currently a junior at Marymount University, and hopes to go to law school after graduation. "Running has been a great passion of mine throughout my life, and I tend to listen to one song on repeat to get me through my long runs. I have participated in two half marathons, multiple 5k's, an eleven miler, a Spartan Race, a Tough Mudder, and the Marine Corps Marathon. Music has guided me throughout my training, and it still guides me through everyday life. I encourage everyone I meet to follow their passions." Testimonios

  • “"I like that the program encourages kids to learn different genres of rock, including blues, R&B, old school rock and the alt rock that most kids like. My kids have so much better taste in music because of what they have had to learn over the past few years. Also, being able to play this music in a group promotes the kind of team-building that some only associate with sports. Conflict resolution is a real thing, y'all."”
Kristan Anderson, parent School of Rock Vienna
  • “Dedicated instructors and staff, culture that encourages development, FUN!!!! 😀, kids get a unique experience - love playing in the "band" and playing rock songs. The program has launched my daughter (one of only a few bass guitar players) into a love of music that is inclusive of many instruments. Thanks to everyone at the School of Rock for managing such great programs!!! You truly have enriched our love of music!”
