Adam Fisher was born and raised in Las Vegas. With his father being a drummer, he has been around music his entire life helping fuel his love and passion for it. At the age of 2 he picked up a pair of sticks and played on his first drum kit. After years of playing off and on he began to take it seriously at the age of 15, playing with other musicians as much as possible. He then began performing with local artists with big followings such as punk/rock band Absent Minded, rap/rock band Cornerstone, and various funk artists. After being in the local scene for a few years, Adam decided that he wanted, and was determined, to attend Musicians Institute located in the heart of Hollywood, CA. There he studied jazz, latin, funk, contemporary music and digital drumming/computer programming. After receiving his Associates Degree in Music/Performing Arts, Adam began his professional career as a Musician/Drummer/Teacher. Shortly after graduating, he landed a gig with Rap/Rock artist RapScallions. This has been his biggest success, having one of their songs featured on the videogame Rocksmith by Ubisoft for PS3 and Xbox. Through this accomplishment he received endorsements from Spaun Drums, Scymtek Cymbals, Evans Drumheads, Pro-Mark Sticks, Puresound, HQ and SKB Cases. Adam then moved back to Las Vegas to continue teaching, gigging and doing studio work. Specializing in rock, he is now teaching at SOR helping share his knowledge and musical experiences providing a fun and positive atmosphere.

Terry Peake is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist specializing in guitar and piano. As an instructor, Terry has been working with students of all ages and ability levels for the last ten years, primarily at Axis Music Academy in Southfield, Michigan. At Axis, Terry mostly taught guitar and piano, but also did his fair share working with bass, drums, and violin students, and was also one of the leading instructors involved with performance ensembles. Terry would perform alongside his students at some of Detroit's more notable venues, including An Evening with Chad Smith at the Berman Center for Performing Arts, where he and his students played with the legend himself. Terry was only a teenager when he started making an impact on the rock scene in Detroit. His growing fascination with classical music started influencing how he wrote for the band he established at age 16, and local musicians and fans alike were starting to take notice that he was doing something fresh and original. His fascination would soon lead him to pursue a degree in Music Composition from Wayne State University, where he would learn the secrets of the masters and graduate with honors.

Billy was born and raised in Hawaii. He started learning how to play the guitar when he was 12 years old by starting a band with his friends. His early musical inspirations were Kiss and Metallica, but a life changing experience happened for him after seeing Joe Satriani live at Andrews Amphitheater. From that night on Billy developed a healthy obsession with shred guitarists like Steve Vai, Yngwie Malsteen, Paul Gilbert and Van Halen which, in turn, resulted in his devotion to his own practicing and playing of the guitar. Billy started a Rock/Prog band in the early 90 s called Nothingface which had local success including a Hawaii Music Award for Best Rock Album. Billy is new to Las Vegas but is looking forward to new playing opportunities as well as getting to pass on all his expertise and becoming a role model and mentor to the students at School of Rock!

In 2011 Tim started his education in music production, electronic synth design, and advanced performance. Tim has had the pleasure of working with many artists and musicians in the past few years. Members from ‘LifeHouse’ ‘Thursday’ ‘Bent Knee’ have all been a great part of his growth. Tim has also served as a studio musician in Boston MA. He currently has over 300 studio sessions and albums under his belt and hopes to continue to raise that number. He also had the chance to speak with and connect with Les Paul, Jimmy Page and Willie Nelson. Tim has gone on several tours all over the US and world. He moved to Las Vegas in May of 2017 and has since been performing on the Vegas strip with multiple projects. Tim believes that the sky is the limit when it comes to your musical dreams. If you have the passion and the drive and are willing to never sleep, you can really make a living and have a blast doing it in the industry. Tim demands a lot from his students at School of Rock. He challenges them to exceed their expectations of what they thought they could do. Working once before at the School of Rock in New Jersey, he is fully versed in how special the School of Rock is and is extremely excited to meet talented and passionate young musicians.

Just like Jack Black students from the hit comedy with the same name, students from School of Rock in Las Vegas are ready to rock.

School of Rock Las Vegas West is offering private music lessons with a “twist” for any young musician looking to start their music career in Vegas someday.

Recent rehearsals included Guns N Roses and the Beatles.

The children who are with a performance group do get to perform at places like the Container Park and the Hard Rock. Additionally, the performers do a fundraising concert to raise money for kids who need scholarships.

Paradise resident Teddi Tarnoff didn't grow up jamming on the bass or singing heavy rock, but you wouldn't know the difference listening to her perform today.

Although trained in classical music, Tarnoff joined the original School of Rock Philadelphia to learn how to play the guitar at 14. She said the school allowed her to expand her horizons and find her music niche.

Last year, she agreed to run the School of Rock Las Vegas West, 9340 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 117, to help give other students the same opportunity.

“It’s a real music school,” Tarnoff said. “We’re teaching them songs, and they’re learning how to play in a band, but they’re getting as close to a real rock experience as humanly possible.”

The school offers music lessons and a chance to perform live at local venues for children 7 to 18. The Little Wing program, which was initiated in early March, teaches children 4 to 6 the basics of music theory and rhythm.

“Students come weekly for group lessons and private lessons, depending on their proficiency level,” Tarnoff said. “When they’re ready, they can (enter) into the performance program where they’re cast into bands and shows.”

Once in the performance program, the children are placed into bands of four or five members. Venue performances are held three times a year and contain about two hours of material.

“They’re on a real rock stage in front of audiences consisting of family, friends and people who happen to just check out the venue,” Tarnoff said. “This season, the kids will perform an arena rock show, so like Journey, Foreigner, Styx and Heart. We will also have a Rolling Stones show, Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ and ’80s prom music.”

According to Tarnoff, the children mostly get to decide what show they will perform in; however, the instructors also guide the children to try new styles and genres.

“We really try to challenge them and expand the music that they’re familiar with,” Tarnoff said. “We’re not only teaching them how to play, but we’re teaching them about music and making sure they get a wide berth of styles and sounds to learn from and appreciate.”

Students who want a bigger challenge can audition for the school’s nationwide AllStars program that gives them the opportunity to tour around the country.

“There are six different groups that go out on the road and play at different festivals like Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza,” Tarnoff said. “They get put on a chartered bus driving from state to state dealing with the trials and tribulations of being on the road. They get the the whole experience.”

Spring Valley resident Natasha Romero-Salas, 15, has loved music since she can remember. She started singing at 4, playing the keyboard at 7 and strumming on the guitar at about 12.

“I used to do a School of Rock type thing before, but it wasn’t as structured,” Romero-Salas said. “Here, I attend lessons Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. I’ve learned things like what it’s like playing in a group and more about how the (amplifiers) work.”

Romero-Salas, who attends Bishop Gorman High School, 5959 S. Hualapai Way, has performed at the South Point, the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, Rain Nightclub at the Palms and the Hard Rock Live on the Strip.

“It’s really fun to perform,” Romero-Salas said. “Everything is really organized, and I’ve liked all the venues we’ve performed at.”

According to guitar instructor Erik Carlsson, the school serves as a safe environment for children to be themselves.

“They check their baggage at the door and put their social hierarchy on hold,” Carlsson said. “They make friendships that they may not feel comfortable making outside of the (music) school. They let it all go so they can be who they want to be.”
