About School of Rock Clark

Welcome to School of Rock Clark—a haven for aspiring musicians who love rock n’ roll. We believe live performance is the most fun and effective way to teach an instrument, which is why we get kids playing on stage as quickly as possible. Our classes are tailored to all age groups and levels of proficiency, and instructors are passionate about creating a legacy of music by helping students succeed in music and beyond.

We also believe that music is more than a solo act. That’s why School of Rock Clark teaches kids to play alone and as part of a team. This approach promotes accountability, speeds up the learning process, and fosters an inclusive community of rockers in Clark. Students are not only learning an instrument—they’re making friends, building confidence, and becoming better people.

Art Lima has dedicated his life to music. He began his musical journey at age 9 and started on his first instrument -the trumpet, where he learned to read music and gained a basic understanding of theory which provided a foundation that has stayed with him always. Growing up with a classically trained conservatory pianist mother, the encouragement of his pursuit of music was always there, and soon his love of guitar began, which also led to mastering of other instruments over the years. A University ofConnecticut alumnus, Art studied music there before delving into a career of 15+ years as an original and cover band lead guitarist before joining School of Rock full-time. Although involved with several recording and performing projects with bands such asLazy Sunday and Rhythm Method, his most notable project wasTHE ZONE -a Philadelphia-based band whose touring schedule featured them in front of hundreds of people every week in major metropolitan areas, shore points, and resorts up and down the east coast, playing thousands of stages, venues, and stadiums, with Art as lead guitarist and backing vocalist.Performances includedNFL pregame and halftime shows as the contracted band for The Washington Redskins, and opening act for notable bands and artists such as Jimmy Buffet and Fuel. Transitioning out of touring, Art has worked with his wife, Jamie (School of Rock instructor and GM) for the past couple of years on their original collaboration in the studio. Forming together their independent record label OzoneBaby Records, their band FATE28released an August 2011 debut album Experimental Tendencies, which was featured in Guitar World Magazine's March 2012 "Introducing" section as a promising new artist release. Art honed in on another passion over the course of creating the album, which is working on the recording side as a producer. Art is excited to share his knowledge and skills with students at School of Rock in the newly-constructed studio facility, outfitted with the latest Pro Tools technology and software. He is a dedicated teacher who has inspired and positively-influenced so many who have had the opportunity to work with him. In the Summer Art keeps busy as a National All-StarTour Director for School of Rock USA, rockin' to raise money for great charitable organizations while touring and playing famous clubs, venues, and festivals like Lollapalooza. The 'Rock The House' tours have raised proceeds to benefit Ronal McDonald House Charities all over the country, and 'Love Hope Strength' finds bone marrow donors raising awareness with the audience members at the All-Star shows, and matched over a dozen bone barrow donors from last year's All-Star tour to help in the fight against cancer! Art also jams with notable artists at various School of Rock promotional events - most recently, on-stage as guitarist on "Jellybelly" by The Smashing Pumpkins with their original drummerJimmy Chamberlin(Smashing Pumpkins, Zwan)at Chicago's Montrose Room 2014; and as drummer on-stage with Earl Slick (New York Dolls, David Bowie), Jim Peterik, Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats), and Eric Bloom (Blue Oyster Cult) in Milwaukee 2013.

Rachel A.W. Pores has considered music her passion her entire life. Starting at the early age of 6, Rachel started taking piano lessons. Singing was second nature to her. She quickly became a soloist in school choirs at an early age. Her musicianship progressed rapidly as she began to compete musically at the state level, both as a vocalist and as a classical pianist performing concertos and singing operatic arias. Rachel attended Interlochen Center for the Arts Camp starting at age 8, studying piano and voice. She continued on to attend Interlochen Arts Academy for her high school career. Here, her musicianship developed, as she focused on classical voice techniques, studying operatic arias in Italian, French, and German. Rachel also taught herself how to play the guitar in high school, with her strong interest in the singer/songwriter form of music.

Rachel attended the University of Michigan School of Music for Voice Performance out of high school. Exploring alternative genres of music, both vocally and writing compositions, Rachel began focusing her music on the world of funk, rock, R & B and jazz. Rachel began singing lead in professional bands outside of college and earned the spot as lead vocalist for the late Rock & Roll Hall of Fame keyboardist, Bernie Worrell’s Woo Warriors band in 2000. She has toured North America as lead vocalist with many professional bands, and has had the pleasure of playing such famous venues as Maritime Hall in San Francisco, The Knitting Factory in both Hollywood, CA and New York, The Majestic Theater in Detroit, and The Trenton State Arena, here in New Jersey.

Rachel has recorded and collaborated with many notable artists including George Clinton, Colin Stetson, Jeff Plankenhorn, Stuart Bogie, Grandmaster Caz, and El-P of Run the Jewels.

In 2013 she discovered the School of Rock, and fell in love with teaching kids how to rock! Rachel is currently enrolled at Montclair State University’s Music School where she is working towards receiving her Masters and Teaching Certificate in Music Education. Along with her new role as Assistant Director at the School of Rock in Clark, she is also currently working on an original project; composing, arranging, singing, playing keys and performing lead vocals in her own band, RAW & The Master Plan.

Amanda's passion and appreciation for music began at a young age through her father's collection of classic & alternative rock. That collection shifted into her own library of endless genres as she began traveling and volunteering at various music festivals and concerts across the states. In her early years, Amanda took the stage in choir, musical theatre and dance. Upon graduating the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a BA in Communication, she was able to channel her passion for live entertainment and media by successfully starting a career in New York City. Her profession began in talent and production with music television channels such as Fuse and Vh1. Amanda then began managing numerous Summer Tours that featured performances by various artists at over thirty summer camps across the nation. She also manages and books for various artists on the East Coast. Amanda's goal still remains, and fits perfectly within School of Rock. The importance of bringing the escape and power of music into other's lives is near and dear to her heart.

Ever since he could remember, Josh Rios has always wanted to be a guitarist. He began exploring music at the age of six on the piano and he has been in love with music ever since. His earliest influences were drawn from the rock n’ roll pioneers of the 50’s. Quickly, he quickly began to branch onto other instruments and within a few years, he had picked up other instruments such as guitar, bass, drums, violin, harmonica, ect. However, he never forgot his dream to be a guitarist and began to devote his attention to guitar, drawing influence from blues, rock, metal, jazz, among other genres. At the age of 8, he began performing on a regular basis and within a few years, he was performing professionally.
In high school, Josh was very involved in the music program as a percussionist in the concert band and drumline, and as a guitarist for the jazz band. He was awarded the Louis Armstrong award - the highest level interscholastic award given to a musician for jazz. As a budding musician, Josh has performed hundreds of times, touring around the East Coast playing in cities such as NYC, Boston, Cape May, Orlando, Miami, Louisville, along with all 21 counties of NJ. He has worked as a session musician in NJ, NY, and MA and is credited on 5 albums. Josh is very passionate about teaching music to others her at School of Rock, and finds fulfillment seeing his students’ love of music grow themselves!

Anthony began playing drums at age 12 and bass guitar at age 13 in his home town of Melbourne, Australia. It was not long before music took over his life completely. By age fourteen, in addition to driving his neighbors crazy with constantly practicing, Anthony was playing in the school Stage Band and already being hired professionally for musical theater productions.
After graduating from high school, Anthony remained active on the Melbourne scene until moving to the States to attend the Los Angeles Music Acadment (LAMA), now the Los Angeles College of Music. After graduating, Anthony cut his teeth playing in a number of bands and projects covering a wife variety of genres and styles both on bass guitar and drums.
Anthony returned to Melbourne where he was a high school music teacher for four years. Life was good but the lure of the U.S. was too strong and Anthony returned to SoCal. Since that time Anthony's life has weaved in and out of a constantly changing music industry. A restless soul Anthony has moved back and forth from coast to coast, living in Brooklyn, Upstate NY, Jersey City, Los Angeles and Portland OR.
Now back in Union County NJ and happily married, Anthony is warming to the strange idea of staying put for awhile and is excited to be a member of School of Rock's team.
Anthony strives to bring a humor and warmth to his lessons while staying focused and goal orientated. Having retained all his childlike qualities (not childish qualities mind you) in his adulthood, Anthony remembers clearly the thrill of learning an instrument. Music never ceases to introduce you to other parts of your personality. Anthony considers it an honor and a privilege to share this with others.
