He was born in the blues soaked MS delta and at an early age fabricated an instrument out of a busted acoustic guitar strung up with tennis racquet gut so he could get out all of the music he had in his head. Eventually he met some other guys and spent every weekend either recording or travelling to Memphis to see live music.
When he got to college he fell in with a buncha weirdos and began performing all over the region in places like Muscle Shoals and extensively in Memphis winning recording sessions in both cities. One day he met a girl and moved to Baton Rouge where he became entrenched in the music scene performing and recording all over south Louisiana and Florida with up to 4 bands simultaneously while also hosting several popular radio shows on KLSU. That girl brought him back to her home town of Houston where he eventually hooked up with the nice folks at the School of Rock Cypress.
