School of Rock Coral Gables’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. From singing to drums to guitar, our Miami music instructors inspire and teach students to perform live.
Jesse Alvarez is a Miami born and raised lifelong musician. Jesse began playing piano at six years old, and over time added on guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals. She has 16 years of experience performing in all sorts of live shows, including classical, rock music and musical theatre. While pursuing her bachelor’s degree at University of Miami, Jesse also became involved in student theatre productions, where she learned how to stage manage and direct live productions. She wears a couple hats, but rock music will always be what she fell in love with first and what taught her how music teaches confidence. At School of Rock Coral Gables in South Miami, Jesse is a guitar teacher, bass guitar teacher, drum teacher, piano teacher and vocal instructor, as well as a studio coordinator. Nothing is worth more to her than following her students’ journeys to discovering a love of performance, as she has in her own life.
Jessica Guthas is a dynamic drum teacher, guitar teacher and bass guitar teacher at School of Rock Coral Gables. Jessica started playing drums at the age of eight, taking lessons with the established John Snider of Eddie Money’s band. From there she began her musical journey, becoming part of local youth rock ensembles. During this time, she also started playing guitar and bass. After high school Jessica began teaching drum lessons in local music stores. Though a professional drummer, Jessica had a greater desire to learn about music production and the music business. She earned her Bachelor of Music, Audio Engineering certification and ultimately her Master in Music Business from Full Sail University. Jessica is the guitarist for the established band, Your Favorite Franchise. She has been learning, playing and teaching drums, guitar and bass most of her life. Her students enjoy her good sense of humor and upbeat personality.
