All of School of Rock Coral Gables’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. Our instructors guide students one-on-one to personalize learning, inspire confidence and build social skills.
Jesse Alvarez Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Piano Teacher, Vocal Instructor, Drum Teacher
Jesse Alvarez is a Miami born and raised lifelong musician. Jesse began playing piano at six years old, and over time added on guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals. She has 16 years of experience performing in all sorts of live shows, including classical, rock music and musical theatre. While pursuing her bachelor’s degree at University of Miami, Jesse also became involved in student theatre productions, where she learned how to stage manage and direct live productions. She wears a couple hats, but rock music will always be what she fell in love with first and what taught her how music teaches confidence. At School of Rock Coral Gables in South Miami, Jesse is a guitar teacher, bass guitar teacher, drum teacher, piano teacher and vocal instructor, as well as a studio coordinator. Nothing is worth more to her than following her students’ journeys to discovering a love of performance, as she has in her own life.
Jessica Guthas Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher
Jessica Guthas is a dynamic drum teacher, guitar teacher and bass guitar teacher at School of Rock Coral Gables. Jessica started playing drums at the age of eight, taking lessons with the established John Snider of Eddie Money’s band. From there she began her musical journey, becoming part of local youth rock ensembles. During this time, she also started playing guitar and bass. After high school Jessica began teaching drum lessons in local music stores. Though a professional drummer, Jessica had a greater desire to learn about music production and the music business. She earned her Bachelor of Music, Audio Engineering certification and ultimately her Master in Music Business from Full Sail University. Jessica is the guitarist for the established band, Your Favorite Franchise. She has been learning, playing and teaching drums, guitar and bass most of her life. Her students enjoy her good sense of humor and upbeat personality.
Brian Liebman Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Brian Liebman’s love for rock music and the guitar began when the guitar was bigger than him. As a kid, he began to take guitar lessons, practicing and developing his talents for performing. After playing the guitar for 27 years strong, he has become one of the South Florida area’s most dedicated guitar instructors. After working for years in multiple local music stores and music programs since 1997, he began to instruct rock band programs for kids in 2007. As a music director, he found his calling in sharing his skills to develop the talents of others, mostly for kids and teens with a strong interest in playing rock music. In 2017, he completed a Master of Music Education degree from Florida International University. In addition to teaching a large amount of guitar lessons and directing rock band programs, Brian is the guitarist for the rock group Smitty the Band, which has been a live and studio band in Miami since 2005. Their first full-length album, “The World I See,” was released in 2013. Between being a musician, live performer and music educator, Brian has a strong and mindful approach to understanding the genre of rock music. He is a guitar teacher and bass guitar teacher at School of Rock Coral Gables.
Elio Gomez Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Elio Gomez’s musical journey started when he decided to take guitar 101 as an elective in middle school. From there, he became obsessed, jumping ahead and teaching himself all the songs he loved. In his teens, Elio actually joined School of Rock as a student for a year and a half, where he learned how to play in a band setting and continued honing his skills on guitar. He started a band with fellow classmates and started playing at parties all over South Miami. Elio went on to pursue his bachelor's degree in music from Berklee College of Music in Boston. While there, he became the bandleader for a popular wedding band, playing all over New England, as well as internationally. While firmly rooted in rock music, Elio loves to play Cuban timba, jazz, funk, R&B and any music that will get people dancing. He is a guitar teacher and bass guitar teacher at School of Rock Coral Gables.
Samara Ortiz Singing Teacher, Piano Teacher
Samara is a vocal and piano instructor at School of Rock Coral Gables. She is a singer-songwriter and actress born and raised in Puerto Rico. Samara started music lessons when she was six years old, and developed as a singer and flautist in classical, pop, Latin and rock music. Later on, she found her second passion in acting, which lead her to perform leading roles in musicals like “Rent”, “Once in the Island”, “Godspell” and other.
Samara is a touring musician who works backup coral singer for several Latin artists while pursuing her solo career. Her singles “Digo que sí” and “Atracciones” are already available in all digital platforms. It is of utmost importance to Samara to be part of her students’ progress. Their development as musicians
and sensitive human beings is one of her goals and one of her biggest satisfactions.
Nick Sintes Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Nick is a guitar and bass teacher at School of Rock Coral Gables. He first picked up a guitar when he was 12 years old, a close friend of his showed him how to play a simple riff and from that point forward Nick would try to teach himself some of his favorite songs through YouTube lessons. It wasn’t long before his parents realized his love for music and signed him up for School of Rock. It was there that Nick discovered the joy of playing in a band, and progressed tremendously as a guitar player, while also picking up bass and drums. Nick is active in the Miami music scene as the lead guitarist and songwriter for local hard rock band “The Wrong Number”. Nick enjoys playing loud and energetic rock more than anything, but also appreciates and borrows from a variety of styles in his playing and original music, including blues, funk, and jazz.
