Our Experienced Music Instructors

School of Rock Cherry Hill’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. From singing to drums to guitar, our Cherry Hill music instructors inspire and teach students to perform live.

Jon Hess Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher

Jon Hess's musical journey began as a student at School of Rock Cherry Hill, where he found his passion for music and met incredible musicians that he still performs with today. He has had the honor of performing at venues such as The Fillmore, World Cafe Live, Legendary Dobbs, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Bryce Jordan Center at Penn State and many other music festivals with multiple cover bands and original ensembles. He has also had his own music played on multiple radio stations, including Radio 104.5. He recently began studying at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia to pursue a degree in Performance and Education.

Jon is very excited to be working at School of Rock Cherry Hill, for it is a place that molded him into who he is today. A huge part of that was having amazing teachers and directors, and he hopes that he can ignite that same spark in his own students.

Rob Sciortino Guitar Teacher, Piano Teacher, Vocal Instructor, Drums Teacher

Rob Sciortino has been playing guitar and drums for 15 years now, picked up keyboards about 12 years ago and has been singing for as long as he can remember. He is from upstate New York, about 100 miles north of NYC. He has been loading up his bands’ vans with gear and driving down to play shows in Brooklyn since he was 17. He spent a few years after high school in bands, busking in parks and subways, and touring around America. He eventually decided to go to Vassar College where he studied Music Composition and Physics. Approaching music academically was new to him, but the experience opened his eyes to different ways of approaching his musicianship. He has since spent time working in recording studios and touring around in bands, such as Fugitive Dream Recovery, The Colorines and The Rhodes, and working in music-related after-school programs.

Mike Reisman Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Vocal Instructor

Mike Reisman is a professional musician from the Philadelphia area since he was about 18 years old. Specializing in guitar and vocals, he’s performed with countless bands of many different genres, and is currently the guitarist for Soraia. Soraia is signed to NYC-based Wicked Cool Records, where they have the distinct privilege of working closely with Steven Van Zandt (E Street Band, Disciples of Soul, The Sopranos, Little Steven’s Underground Garage, etc). Soraia tours both nationally and internationally, and has shared stages with acts such as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, Bon Jovi, Wolfmother, Adam Ant, The Hooters and The Strypes. Mike has appeared with Soraia in publications such as "Rolling Stone" and "Guitar Player Magazine."

Ken O'Conlon Drums Teacher

Ken O’Conlon started playing drums when he was nine years old on just a single snare drum. Ken joined concert band in middle school and later joined jazz band, marching band and an indoor drum line during his high school years. Ken has recorded tracks and performed with the rock band Endless North and the hardcore band For Those Who Fall. Currently, Ken plays drums and writes music for the alternative punk band Wolves Mouth. In addition to drums, Ken started his guitar studies at age 15 and learned how to write and play songs in several genres. Ken’s versatility in rock, metal, punk, jazz and more allow him to share his extensive knowledge with his students.

Lauren Morrison Studio Coordinator

Lauren Morrison began her music journey as a bass player at School of Rock. She started in Rock 101 and quickly moved into Performance group followed by House Band. Now Lauren is the Studio Coordinator and Rookies Director. Outside of School of Rock, Lauren plays bass and sings in Us + Them, which is a Pink Floyd tribute band comprised of other School of Rock Cherry Hill graduates.

Patrick Crowling Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Piano Teacher, Vocal Instructor, Drums Teacher

Patrick Crowling joined School of Rock in January of 2011 as an instructor at the Ft. Washington school. After two months at the school, he assisted on his first show and began directing the following season. In September of 2011, he began teaching at the Main Line school, splitting his time between the two schools for the next six years. Over the years, he has directed over 20 shows, as well as worked with the Ft. Washington House Band and ran the adult jam at both Ft. Washington and Main Line. In October of 2018, he became the Music Director of the Cherry Hill school, and is thrilled to bring his years of experience and dedication to the School of Rock Cherry Hill community.

Vinnie Porrett Drums Teacher

Vinnie Porrett is a New Jersey-based drummer, performer and teacher. He has been playing the drums since the age of nine. His interest in every style of music has given him the ability to play and teach at a remarkable level. Vinnie’s hard work and obsessive passion for the drums and overall music rewarded him with a scholarship from Zildjian to study at the Collective School of Music located in New York City. Since then, he has been playing in many musical settings and teaching the art of drumming. Vinnie is currently the drummer of the tri-state area's hottest party band, Legacy.

Will Schwartz Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Piano Teacher

William Schwarz knows bass. He started playing professionally when he was 18, and over the past 11 years has studied with Craig Thomas and Micah Jones at the University of the Arts. William has toured all over the US and Canada in several rock groups, and plays in many eclectic groups in and around Philadelphia. His main influences include James Jamerson, John Paul Jones, Jaco Pastorius and Carol Kaye.

Vince Federici Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drums Teacher, Vocal Instructor

Vince Federici plays in many different bands, varying in styles that include rock and roll, R&B/soul, country western and modern indie. Since 2010 he has contributed to two albums of music per year. Vince is also a jazz guitarist with a B.A. in Music from The University of the Arts. Although guitar is his primary vehicle for making music, he is capable of teaching rock and roll to anyone on any instrument. When not playing live shows with art in mind, Vince is an accomplished singer that can lead any type of cover band, including wedding work and solo acoustic work. When it comes to teaching, musicianship and a deep understanding of what it means to play music are his main goals.
