2018 in Review

what a year it's been

We've spent the month of December sharing stories about the Gift of Music: why our students are happy their parents gave them music lessons, why parents chose to give lessons, why instructors are grateful to share their talents, and more. As 2018 comes to a close, we here at School of Rock Chapel Hill find ourselves in a state of reflection and gratitude for all the music our students have shared with us this past year. Take a minute to look back on some of the highlights from 2018.

Seasonal Shows

Our Performance Program was non-stop all year, putting on a whopping seven shows throughout the year.

Our Rock 101ers worked hard to learn songs by artists from Sheryl Crow to Imagine Dragons to Eric Clapton to the Ramones and more! They performed at many of the above shows and several of our Rock 101ers graduated this year and got to perform in their first seasonal shows!

The 15-501ers, our adult band, really grew into its own this year and gigged three times!

Our Rookies students had fun, worked a little, and made some noise as they learned the basics of music. Many found the instruments they wish to focus on in 2019 and graduated up to Lessons Only or Rock 101!

Sorch Parties

During our first full calendar year in operation, we were able to start some traditions to celebrate and bring our community together.

venues

We made sure to make an appearance in as many of our great local venues as possible this year, including:

Festivals

It's no secret that the Triangle is a good location for good music. Our House Band was fortunate enough to make themselves known at a few:

Summer camps

The 2017 summer was a great learning opportunity for us to try out a few camp themes, and we really hit our stride in 2018 with the following camps:

tour

The Chapel Hill House Band got the taste of a quintessential professional musician experience by joining a few other School of Rock schools on tour this summer, starting in Hillsborough, traveling to Pigeon Forge, TN, Atlanta, GA, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Giving back

The community we're in makes us what we are. We appreciate the warm welcome we've received as we've entered the Chapelboro sphere. As a token of our gratitude, we've endeavored to give back to the place and people we call home. This year, we've partnered with:
