A veteran guitarist, bassist, drummer, percussionist, vocalist, recording engineer, producer, and composer, Marc Reczek (pronounced Wreck-Sick ) has been playing music since he picked up his first guitar at the age of ten. The Houston Press voted him one of the top five guitarists in Houston, Texas. His jazz band was also rated in the top five by the Houston Press (with Reczek on bass).Originally from Vermont, he moved to Houston to attend college and earned a degree in Music Business. He has been a professional musician since the age of fifteen. In addition to his musical talents, he is also an accomplished recording engineer and booking agent, and is well versed in music business, which has honed his band management skills. Reczek's influences come from a variety of sources including The Beatles, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, Alice in Chains, Phish, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wes Montgomery, Django Reinhardt, Drop Trio, The Grateful Dead, Medeski Martin and Wood, Slide Five, The Beastie Boys, The Beach Boys, and Umphrey's McGee.His rhythmic style is "all in the wrist," describing the clean and percussive approach he takes to writing funk grooves. 'When soloing, he strives to make complete sentences,' says Greg Lizee, an engineer who has worked with Reczek. He sums up his playing by saying "He can shred but doesn't like to very often. He has a particular style that evolves within the music. It very interesting. It's the 'feel' of his playing that makes it distinctive.' Reczek plays all styles including rock, metal, funk, blues, jazz, and everything in between. 'I feel like it is my turn to give back. When I started playing guitar at ten, I went straight into lessons where the instructor taught me theory. I was bored. I had no passion for my instrument. When I started learning songs, my life changed forever!" "That is why I believe so strongly in theSchool of Rockmethod of learning."AtSchool of Rock The Woodlands, we offer performance-based lessons that use learning songs as a catalyst for music education. "We move into theory after he/she has seen and felt how powerful playing music is. This is how I learned. This is how music became a major center in my life and brought me from a small town in Vermont (about 20,000 people) to one of the best players in the fourth-largest city in the United States (metro area over 4 million).'Marc Reczekis theGeneral Manager / Music Director for School of Rock The Woodlandsin Texas. This Houston Area Location is offering performance-based music lessons. My mission - to inspire the WORLD to rock on stage and in life. 'I learned the School of Rock way. You should too.'

Matt is a guitar, vocal, drum, bass and keys instructor at Champion Forest. He has been a student in the School of Rock for four years prior to becoming an instructor. He held an in-depth internship at School of Rock Kingwood for three years, during which time, he learned first hand the ins and outs of the program. He participated in Dean's List for three years and toured the central US twice in the summer of 2016 with both the School of Rock Summer Tour and School of Rock AllStars.

Matt has a wide range of musical abilities and tastes. He is well versed in guitar, vocals, drums, bass, and keyboard, all of which he learned through the School of Rock program. He also played cello in his school’s orchestra for 4 years, giving him a background in classical music. He currently teaches all of these instruments across three School of Rock locations.

His taste ranges from alternative rock such as Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Soundgarden, to metal such as Tool and Deftones, to the more "out there" side of things like Phish, Pink Floyd, and Frank Zappa. Matt has a strong sense of musical technicality but believes that feel and a good ear will always come out above sheer technicality.

Matt has played shows at venues and events across the country ranging from small clubs and bars to Lollapalooza in Chicago. Matt's creative talents and influences are shown in his band Desense. In Desense, he acts as the lead guitarist, lead vocalist, lyricist, and central songwriter. Desense is an alternative rock band showing tinges of Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Deftones and The Mars Volta with their own flares of improvisation, odd time signatures, and clever melody. They are currently playing shows in and around the Houston area and are focusing on writing for their upcoming EP and future full-length recordings.

Matt started playing guitar as his first instrument after being inspired by the heavy metal band Metallica. Focusing on the rhythm guitar player James Hetfield, he developed a strong sense of complex song structure and right hand sensibility early on. After studying every Metallica song known to man, he moved on to the 90s alternative rock scene. He became intrigued by acts such as Tool, Alice in Chains, and Nirvana, due to the large amount of emotional expression found in the styles of those bands and others like them. While studying Tool, he developed an understanding of odd time and polyrhythm and surrounded himself with these complex concepts. After working with these concepts, he moved his interest to drummers like Jon Theodore of The Mars Volta and Jon Fishman of Phish to focus on feel and groove. Through this study, he has developed a strong sense of groove and technical finesse.

Along the way, Matt also stumbled upon the Vermont-based cult jam band Phish, who quickly became one of his favorite groups. Awe-struck by Trey Anastasio's unique, improvisational and experimental style of guitar playing, he studied their work tirelessly and was (and still is) constantly honing and adding to his improvisational concepts. Phish's jam based style has also bled into his original work.

Today, Matt has taught at four School of Rock locations; Kingwood, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, and Champion Forest. His years in School of Rock have given him a complete understanding of the program and have inspired him to pass these lessons on to his students.

You will find Matt playing an instrument or with a mic in his hand whenever you’re in the school. He loves to teach and inspire others with his knowledge and enthusiasm for music and relates well with students, having started his musical journey with us.
