The skills and passion for music that we teach our students gets them ready for Rock 101 and a lasting appreciation for music.

Our Broomfield Rookies learn the fundamental concepts of pitch, rhythm, form and dynamics with age-appropriate exercises, tools and games. We encourage our students to explore a variety of instruments and play styles so they can get familiar with all parts of the musical landscape; even the most incredible solo guitar players or drummers need to understand how the rest of the band works together.

After graduating from Colorado’s Fairview High School, Jared took his musical talents westward and ventured out to Hollywood to attend the Musician’s Institute. There he studied both Guitar Performance and Guitar Building, solidifying a music education that is both broad and deep. In addition to graduating from MI, Jared has played Guitar and Bass in a number of bands spanning various genres such as Country, Metal, Classical and Jazz. He's been on the road touring the western US with his band, and has extensive experience building and repairing guitars. He even worked at a School of Rock location in Southern California before returning to Colorado recently to pursue an engineering degree at CU Boulder. Now we are lucky to have Jared in house to teach guitar & bass, occasionally direct a seasonal show, and he has even taught Music Theory here at Broomfield School of Rock. When he's not teaching guitar and bass lessons you can usually find Jared fixing an amp, updating one of our computers, or re-stringing a student's guitar.

Taylor Friesth is a Colorado Native who discovered his passion for drums at the young age of eight when he tried playing a family friend’s 360° Pearl drum kit. He has been teaching since age 13, and is constantly striving to find the most effective way to teach each individual student. When he turned 20 he released a drum instruction book, “The Sly Hat”, which is owned by some big name drummers such as Juan Carlito Mendoza, Jim Riley, and Carter McLean.
Taylor has been contributing to the Colorado music scene since he was in 5th grade, which led him to play in front of 30,000 at CU Boulder’s Folsom Field. Having been taught by nearly every drum teacher in the area, he has been in search of expanding his range of comfort ever since he began playing.

He studied at McNally Smith College of music under the instruction of Gordy Knudson, the Steve Miller Band drummer. He also was a member of the percussion ensemble “Rise Percussion” as they competed at WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. Taylor’s musical diversity, which ranges from latin, to marching percussion, to rock, gives him a very unique approach to the drum set.
