2020 Plans for Shows: Winter Spring 2020

KISS  Mondays 5:30-8:30 pm led by Ryan.

It was a cold New York day in January 1973 when a skinny guitar player shleped a Marshall Stack up two flights of stairs for an audition. His tennis shoes are two different colors.   He plugs that guitar into his rig, turns it up, and burns through some riffs that land him a spot in what would quickly become “The Hottest Band in the Land, KISS!” The songs were solid mid 70’s arena rock tunes, but the show left all breathless.  And the makeup - they used to go to any McDonalds by the arena on show day, meet some local fans and talk about the band. The somewhat lucky fans never knew they were talking to KISS - no one knew what they looked like. This was one of the best kept TradeMarked secrets, probably rivaling the Coca-Cola formula.  I honestly do not know how they did it. Really, just combining the letters K and I with the lightning bolt S and S, and it is a brand immediately recognized worldwide!

Zappa Wednesdays 5:30-8:30 pm led by John L.

“Zappa”  The mere mention of this name to a musician triggers respect, laughter and fear all in the same breath.  Respect because Frank mastered every element of music. Laughter because his lyrics were satirical to a level of Twain and Bruce.  Fear - just ask anyone who was unfortunate enough to not pass an audition with him.

Perhaps Rolling Stone put it best “Frank Zappa dabbled in virtually all kinds of music—and, whether guised as a satirical rocker, jazz-rock fusionist, guitar virtuoso, electronics wizard, or orchestral innovator, his eccentric genius was undeniable."

This show may be invite only due to the complex nature of the material and the mature content of his lyrics. Frank was one of the leading proponents of anti censorship of lyrics (no “E” ever made it to his album covers), and we plan to respect that.

Rock & Grohl Fridays 5:30-8:30 pm led by William

The youngest of the Nirvana trio, Dave Grohl was able to transform his image from the flailing arm drummer barely visible from behind his endless streaming hair to front man extraordinaire.  Love or hate him, you have to admit he is everywhere. This cat works hard at what he does, and he has a discography to show it. Leading the charge with groups like Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age, not to mention Cage the Elephant and Tenacious D. led him to a position of being named the 3rd wealthiest drummer in the world, with only Ringo and Phil Collins ahead of him.  Join this group and learn why Dave is “My Hero”.

Heaven & Hell Saturday 2:00-5:00 pm led by Mick

This show will be a throw down between the most heavenly voices on the planet from big songs with big voices ranging from vocal heavy works by bands like Boston, Journey to the magical angelic voices ranging from the likes  of Whitney, Adelle to Ed Sheeran. The “Hell” side of the program will focus on raising some “heck” with some of Zach Brown’s Fried Chicken, Raising Hell with Kesha, visiting Friends in Low Places with Garth and letting that Rebel Yell out with Billy Idol.
