At School of Rock Tustin, we believe that playing real music is the only path to proficiency and a true appreciation for music.

In Rock 101, students select one instrument to study, and we begin teaching fundamentals: scales, chords, notes, time signatures, and all the rest. Our unique approach to music instruction teaches our students vital fundamentals through songs they know and love, not rote memorization. With real musical context in a fun environment, we give all of our students the knowledge they need to really pursue their passion for music.

Adam Gomez was born and raised in Southern California, spending most of his childhood in Los Angeles and then moving to the Inland Empire. He grew up surrounded by many cultures and musical backgrounds while maintaining a love for Punk, Metal and Rock n’ Roll.

After starting a Metal band just out of high school, Adam performed live for several years before deciding to earn his degree in drums and percussion from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. After graduating, he landed a gig with iconic Pop/Punk band The Dickies, which are most known for their late 70’s punk sound, being the first California Punk band to appear on national T.V. and their rendition of “Banana Splits” featured in the movie ‘Kick Ass.’ Since then, he has seen most of the world as official drummer for The Dickies. Adam has also recorded, collaborated and performed with artists such as The Adolescents, D.I., The Motel Life, Tommy Peacock and others. “The Dickies have been through many drummers throughout the years, but Adam G had the best audition, by far. He almost had me at hello. Within 30 seconds; I knew he was the guy.” –Stan Lee (Guitarist/Co Creator, The Dickies)

Education was a huge part of kick starting Adam's take-off as a professional musician. After Graduating from M.I., he has been teaching drums in Southern California, touring parts of the world and continuing to hand down the craft of precision, intelligence, ferocity and touch of a professional drummer to the new generations of kids with the desire to make, learn and rock out to the art of music.

Patrick O'Konski earned his B.M. in Music with an emphasis in Percussion Performance at the Bob Cole Conservatory. He has performed in many different musical settings, from band and orchestra to choirs, jazz and rock bands. Patrick is comfortable teaching all levels and ages and brings his wealth of experience in wide variety of genres to give each student the education they seek and deserve. First and foremost, I think lessons should always be fun and interesting. I also believe that it's very important to have a solid understanding of the fundamentals on any instrument you're learning. I divide my lessons into 3 parts. I like to spend the first 1/3 of a lesson warming up, playing exercises, and working on technique. The second 1/3 consists of book work or learning songs. The final 1/3 the lesson consists of jamming along with the student on guitar or piano. This gives the student the experience of playing in a live setting. I care very much about what each and every student wants to get from their lessons, and will do my best to give them a great foundation.

  • “School of Rock. The best music school anywhere. This whole idea of getting kids not just taking lessons and learning notes and chords, but learning songs and playing with other young musicians, and getting out on stage… I was so impressed that my daughter Cheyenne goes to School of Rock on Long Island. ”
    — Dee Snider, Twisted Sister
  • “You want your kid to be passionate about something, whether it be sports, scouts, dance or whatever. School of Rock does this for my son. We have discovered a talent we didn't know he had. My son would live at School of Rock if he could. We’ve already recommended the program to several friends. ”
    — Susan Snyder, Clifton, VA
  • “Our son explored many other extra-curricular activities prior to SOR, and no other activity was able to keep his interest.
