In addition to refining their overall skill and proficiency as musicians, students learn what comes with being part of a band: teamwork, collaboration, and the special brand of fun that only comes from sharing awesome experiences with others.

Students learn, absorb, and perform iconic hits from some of history's greatest rock and roll performers including The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Van Halen, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and many more. No matter what they perform, our students will learn incredible skills and enjoy epic experiences that will last a lifetime.

  • School of Rock Tustin’s Rock 101 Program encourages fun and success for our younger students as they begin their journey. The days of traditional instruction with piles of sheet music are over. At School of Rock Tustin, we believe that playing real music is the only path to proficiency and a true appreciation for music.

In Rock 101, students select one instrument to study, and we begin teaching fundamentals: scales, chords, notes, time signatures, and all the rest. Our unique approach to music instruction teaches our students vital fundamentals through songs they know and love, not rote memorization. With real musical context in a fun environment, we give all of our students the knowledge they need to really pursue their passion for music.

All students in Tustin’s Rock 101 Program can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly group rehearsals to reinforce the fundamentals in a team environment
    • A firm grasp of the basics of music theory and technique
    • An understanding of what it means to play solo and in a group
    • Real knowledge gained through real fun!

We get our students playing and learning at lightning-quick speeds through practical performance rather than run-of-the-mill music instruction programs. At School of Rock Tustin, the thrill of the performance is just as important as learning the skill to rock.

Our adult students learn the fundamentals of music, including scales, chords, notes, progressions, and more, through some of the most iconic songs and sounds in music history. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of rock ‘n roll or a metal-loving head-banger at home in the mosh pit, our teachers know how to best connect your love for music with a passion for learning it.

The off-week is the week between each season. It allows the students to take a break from all their hard work and shows, and allows the teachers time to prepare for next season's casting and songs. It also allows us time to repair gear, purchase new gear, deep-clean the school, and prepare for next season. Every School of Rock observes off-weeks (similar to spring-breaks), and just like we do not charge extra every time there are 5 lessons or rehearsals in a month, we also do not pro-rate for off-weeks or holidays.

Patrick O'Konski earned his B.M. in Music with an emphasis in Percussion Performance at the Bob Cole Conservatory. He has performed in many different musical settings, from band and orchestra to choirs, jazz and rock bands. Patrick is comfortable teaching all levels and ages and brings his wealth of experience in wide variety of genres to give each student the education they seek and deserve. First and foremost, I think lessons should always be fun and interesting. I also believe that it's very important to have a solid understanding of the fundamentals on any instrument you're learning. I divide my lessons into 3 parts. I like to spend the first 1/3 of a lesson warming up, playing exercises, and working on technique. The second 1/3 consists of book work or learning songs. The final 1/3 the lesson consists of jamming along with the student on guitar or piano. This gives the student the experience of playing in a live setting. I care very much about what each and every student wants to get from their lessons, and will do my best to give them a great foundation.

Nikki was destined for drums since she could sit up on a throne. At a young age she was handed two sticks longer than her toddler arms and was taught her first basic fundamentals but it wasn't until she was twelve that she truly fell in love with playing drums. She's studied privately under a wealth of teachers from an array of musical backgrounds and joined every percussion/drum set class that her schools, from junior high to college, offered. Her resume of previous and current musical endeavors is long andcompiled of many different styles of playing. Nikki loves playing as much as she can and in the past years realized that mixing together her passion for drums and her experience with teaching/mentoring young people would result inpassing on her love and experience therefore keeping drummers alive and interested. Nikki is currently in an Orange County based Ska/Punk band named Hooray For Our side.
