It was the year 1978 that Bill Panagia took up the guitar to seek out and formulate a unique blend of playing techniques. Upon completion of 5 years of study under a private instructor, Bill started teaching guitar locally. He specializes in music theory and has experience with multi-track recording for original creations of his own and of other earnest composers. Moreover, Bill has explored ways to enhance the study method through the design and use of custom color-coded chord models and tone bands. So it came to pass that Bill joined the South Hackensack School of Rock in 2005 as a guitar teacher around the time that the school opened up. As a show director, Bill put together shows covering the rock, pop, alternative, grunge and metal categories using much experimentation. These shows, being performed at such places as Mexicali Live and BB Kings, as well as at the school's venue, are often times done in conjunction with established artists and major acts. Bill has also been director of the summer camp original songwriting program and has produced and co-produced some 15 single-cut CD's. The songs from this project were likewise directed by Bill and played in concert. His future goals include the production of an original project CD and Guitar Manual.

A product of School of Rock, Chris Goodlof has accomplished quit a bit for a young guy. Born and raised in Bergen County, NJ, he has been playing guitar and bass since grammar school and already has played onstage with greats like Leslie West from Mountain, Carmine Appice from Vanilla Fudge and many of the other musicians who teach at School of Rock. Studying under David Bowie's guitarist Carlos Alomar at Stevens Institute of Technology (as well as Mike Morance at the South Hackensack School of Rock) gave Chris a great foundation to become the musician he is today. He was also in a touring band, has been playing shows since high school, and has a knowledge of recording, mixing, and engineering.

We are excited to announce that Kofi Baker an established drummer in his own right, and son of legendary Ginger Baker of Cream, will be holding a drum clinic here at The Saddle Brook School of Rock. The clinic will be on Sunday February 22nd at 4:00, and it will last for 2 hours. Tickets are $20. As the son of legendary drumming icon Ginger Baker, Kofi Baker has a name that's synonymous with drumming excellence. And Kofi lives up to his name; with his outstanding skills, drive, and dedication he continues the great Baker legacy. Kofi's first live performance was with his father on the UK television show "The Old Grey Whistle Test" - at just six years of age he proved he had inherited more than just his fathers name. In the early 80's, Kofi and his father played drum duets throughout Europe, amazing audiences with complex African polyrhythms. Later, Kofi toured with John Ethridge (Soft Machine), and gigged in London with Steve Waller (Manfred Mann), and with Randy California (Spirit). He also toured Europe with Steve Marriot's Humble Pie. During the 1990's Kofi toured with Jack Bruce in Budapest; signed with Scotty Brothers Records when he recorded the album Lost City; recorded Abstract Logic with Jonas Hellborg and Shawn Lane; and toured extensivley - including more drum duets with Ginger Baker. Kofi is now living in Hobart IN. Kofi Baker's Cream Experience is his latest inspiration - a powerful trio that rivals that of Cream.

Testimonials

  • “I can’t tell you what an enriching experience this has been for our whole family and especially for Josh. The instructors there were so much more than teachers for Josh, they were his idols and his role models. It has been an amazing time, and I know that as Josh gets older he will look back on all the memories he made at the SOR fondly. You have created something special there, and I hope you understand what an impact your efforts have had on the lives of these children.Thank you for everything! ”
    — Tim Gallagher, Father of School of Rock Denver student
  • “Carlson's time at School of Rock helped her recruit most of her current bandmates. It spurred her to apply to Berklee which, unlike other colleges that offer music majors geared mainly toward classical and jazz, offered the opportunity to train as a well-rounded musician. ”
    — Chelsea Carson, student from Long Valley School of Rock
  • “School of Rock is the best thing we have done for our three children. They learn self-confidence, teamwork, and musicianship in an environment that is safe and free of the typical age-barrier restrictions that are often inherent in other student activities. The youngest and oldest kids in the school work together and everyone is an equal on stage. I wish other youth activities were as welcoming. ”
    — Tony C., parent, Great Valley, PA
  • “School of Rock has helped develop my daughter's self confidence. She just lights up when she is on stage. I just love watching and seeing her growth as a person and as a musician. SOR is her second family. ”
    — Lori H., parent, Downingtown, PA
