Born in Norwalk, Carl grew up with music all around him. Driving the family crazy while incessantly drumming on anything he could find, Carl heard the band Rush and he was hooked for life. At age 16, Carl began taking lessons from Jim Mola (Tony Bennett, Good Morning America, the JVC Jazz Festival). Not being able to afford conventional lessons Carl began to roadie for Jim, and would be taught on a diner table after gigs. At the age of 17, Carl started the progressive metal band Arsinal that toured the Northeast. While in melodic progressive band Arcane Opera, he was featured on the Foundations Forum CD releases for two years straight with Ozzy, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Pantera and others. Carl then started Bourne Wisdom, who recorded their debut CD in 1995 and shared the stage with the likes of King's X and Kansas. With the band Linc Haze, Carl and crew were the most sought after area band with their style of 'rapcore.' He is currently recording original music with the progressive rock band Scapeland. Carl remains one of the most sought after drummers in the area, performing consistently at venues like Mohegan Sun, Toads Place, and Marriott Times Square. You can see Carl in the area playing with Pimpinella (funk and dance), HEDTRIP (modern rock, alternative), Paul Lacano and the Cocktail Shakers (dance and swing), Soul Circus (reggae and RB), Bump (blues to today's dance) and original alternative rock band If Not For Dreaming. Carl resides in Bethel, CT with his wife and two kids who are also following in his musical footsteps.

Testimonials

  • “School of Rock is the best thing we have done for our three children. They learn self-confidence, teamwork, and musicianship in an environment that is safe and free of the typical age-barrier restrictions that are often inherent in other student activities. The youngest and oldest kids in the school work together and everyone is an equal on stage. I wish other youth activities were as welcoming. ”
    — Tony C., parent, Great Valley, PA
  • ““I can’t tell you what an enriching experience this has been for our whole family and especially for Josh. The instructors there were so much more than teachers for Josh, they were his idols and his role models. It has been an amazing time, and I know that as Josh gets older he will look back on all the memories he made at the SOR fondly. You have created something special there, and I hope you understand what an impact your efforts have had on the lives of these children.Thank you for everything!" ”
    — Tim Gallagher, Father of School of Rock Denver student

  • “You want your kid to be passionate about something, whether it be sports, scouts, dance or whatever. School of Rock does this for my son. We have discovered a talent we didn't know he had. My son would live at School of Rock if he could. We’ve already recommended the program to several friends. ”
