Programs

  • School of Rock Philippines's Performance Program is all about translating our students' abilities to play in the lesson room to performing for real on stage. In addition to refining their overall skill and proficiency as musicians, students learn what comes with being part of a band: teamwork, collaboration, and the special brand of fun that only comes from sharing awesome experiences with others.

Students learn, absorb, and perform iconic hits from some of history's greatest rock and roll performers including The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Van Halen, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and many more. No matter what they perform, our students will learn incredible skills and enjoy epic experiences that will last a lifetime.

All students in Philippines's Performance Program can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly band rehearsal to get students prepared for real shows
    • Real-life performances on stage at amazing venues
    • Advanced instruction in fundamentals such as stage performance, harmonies, musicianship, and more
    • Fun, music, and education wrapped into one all-inclusive experience!

  • Our Rock 101 Program at School of Rock Philippines is focused on making the first steps of a young student’s journey both fun and successful. The days of mundane music instruction are over. At School of Rock Philippines, we believe that playing music together is the only real path to mastering an instrument and developing a true love for music.

In Rock 101, we focus our instruction on the one instrument that students have chosen to study. Whether we’re teaching scales, chords, notes, or time signatures, we put concepts in context so students understand how the principles they learn are applied to real music. Using some of the world’s most famous songs and infusing fun into every chord, Rock 101 allows Philippines students to enhance their skills and move on to our Performance Program.

School of Rock Philippines’s Rock 101 students can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly group rehearsals to reinforce basic concepts and skills in a band setting
    • A firm grasp of the fundamentals of technique and music theory
    • An understanding of what it means to play solo and in a group
    • Real knowledge gained through real fun!

  • At School of Rock Philippines, we know how to bring the world of music, and the fun that comes with it, to adults. We get our students playing and learning at rapid-fire speeds through real performances of their favorite songs, instead of your old traditional music instruction programs with piles of sheet music and hours of rote memorization. At School of Rock Philippines, the stage can be yours at any age.

Our adult students learn the fundamentals of music, including scales, chords, notes, progressions, and more, from real-world instruction through some of the most iconic songs and sounds in music history. Whatever your musical taste may be, our instructors know how to create a program just for you. Whether you’re seeking basic proficiency, a standing gig as the resident guitar player at parties, or future rock star status, School of Rock Philippines works with you to help you reach your goals.

Students in School of Rock Philippines’s Adult Program can expect:

    • Fast-paced instruction on the instrument of your choice: guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and/or vocals
    • Weekly private instruction catered to your goals and level of proficiency
    • All-adult rehearsals to prepare for real performances in local venues
    • A firm grasp of music theory and technique fundamentals, taught through your favorite music genre
    • Fun, instruction, and great progression of practical skills wrapped all into one!

A businessman in the morning and a musician at night, Darrell Villanueva is one of our resident guitar instructors. At a young age, he was formally trained in piano but later shifted his concentration into guitar. While attending college, Darrell had an active band, Tension; playing covers of Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin covers and original compositions that fit his unique high-pitched singing voice (can you say Sebastian Bach or Axl Rose?) Plus, gigging, competing (and winning) all over Metro Manila. Darrell is an example of never giving up your passion—and that’s just one of the many things he is ready to share.

Robert dela Cruz has been playing drums since he was 11 years old. Today, he is one of the most looked upon Filipino drummers. Robert is 1/3 of the famous 90’s band called Skychurch (formerly known as Electric Skychurch.) They became popular during that era because they invaded the professional rock/metal music scene at ages 15, 13 and 11—Robert being the youngest. His main influences are Dave Lombardo of Slayer, Harly Alarcon of P.O.T. and Steve Gadd. He also played drums for the bands: Queso, Wilabaliw, Rico Blanco, Franco and Kamikazee. Aided with his years of experience, Robert is excited to share his passion to future SOR students.

Testimonials

  • “School of Rock has taught me how to perform in public with self-confidence. ”
    — Dan, 18, Downingtown, PA
  • “School of Rock. The best music school anywhere. This whole idea of getting kids not just taking lessons and learning notes and chords, but learning songs and playing with other young musicians, and getting out on stage… I was so impressed that my daughter Cheyenne goes to School of Rock on Long Island. ”
    — Dee Snider, Twisted Sister
  • “You want your kid to be passionate about something, whether it be sports, scouts, dance or whatever. School of Rock does this for my son. We have discovered a talent we didn't know he had. My son would live at School of Rock if he could. We’ve already recommended the program to several friends. ”
    — Susan Snyder, Clifton, VA
  • “Our son explored many other extra-curricular activities prior to SOR, and no other activity was able to keep his interest. He has been challenged with new material, gained a foundation in theory and songwriting, as well as learned how to work in a group with other students to put on phenomenal rock 'n roll concerts in real" concert venues." ”
    — Trisha Ybarra-Peters, Leesburg, VA
