Dustin is a Bass, Guitar and Drums instructor as well as the Adult Band Director at the School of Rock Johns Creek. He is thrilled to be a member of the SORJC staff and looks forward to imparting the knowledge he has gained onto younger and driven musicians exhibiting a level of talent and maturity beyond their years.
Dustin has been playing since the age of 13 when he picked up the bass guitar after realizing his tendency to listen to the groove-city bass lines of John Paul Jones. A fan of Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Sly Stone, and many other 70s/80s funk and rock legends, his bass has always with him no matter where he went, including to school!

Dustins career has had him working with a Nashville singer songwriter and while attending college, participated in the Vans Warped Tour with the band Silver Comet, an unforgettable tour experience for which he has many stories. Like many musicians, Dustin’s sound and band has evolved over the years. This musical evolution lead him to a self-booked tour of England and France with band mate and singer Parry Kitt. Dustin’s musical roots have also taken an entrepreneurial turn where we participated in a music tech business incubator called Zoo labs working alongside former Google executives and the founder of Dropbox. Dustin is the founder of his own record label, Wake Records and is a member of the band theSAGAS which has toured the U.S., including Austin Texas, South by South West (SXSW) and most recently the Vans Warped Tour in Pomona, California.

Testimonials

  • “The list is long! The opportunity to experience music with others that love music too - both instructors and other people -- and have them become real friends. To perform different types of rock music, in front of crowds and venues all over metro Atlanta, including responsibility for designing posters and setting up and taking down equipment. Participating in the community - raising money for charities, or just supporting a city by being in a parade. Older children helping younger ones - setting the example. I love that SOR stresses that school comes first and supports parents with this - and expectations to keep grades up are key to participating in the program. All ages and levels welcome - there is truly something for everyone!”

  • “What a great night at the end of season performances! I want to thank School of Rock for having a program that allows my son such complete joy and passion for something! I have never seen him love doing anything like when he is playing the drums. He had a blast tonight and even got a little daring with a surprise drum solo at the end of it all (which, for this shy boy, is a huge step)! I'm so glad that he is in your program and thanks to everyone there who is teaching him drums, musicality, creativity, discipline, and confidence!”
