At School of Rock Green Valley, we believe that playing music together is the only real path to mastering an instrument and developing a true love for music.

In Rock 101, we focus our instruction on the one instrument that students have chosen to study. Whether we’re teaching scales, chords, notes, or time signatures, we put concepts in context so students understand how the principles they learn are applied to real music. Using some of the world’s most famous songs and infusing fun into every chord, Rock 101 allows Green Valley students to enhance their skills and move on to our Performance Program.

With a Master's Degree in Education from Pepperdine and teaching credential, Andy comes to the SOR with somewhat of a different background yet with many similar experiences. He recognizes the positive effects studying music can have on the mind, body and soul. Additionally, having lived abroad for several years as well as in various cities in the U.S., Andy has had the opportunity of working in the classroom with students of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Billy was born and raised in Hawaii. He started learning how to play the guitar when he was 12 years old by starting a band with his friends. His early musical inspirations were Kiss and Metallica, but a life changing experience happened for him after seeing Joe Satriani live at Andrews Amphitheater. From that night on Billy developed a healthy obsession with shred guitarists like Steve Vai, Yngwie Malsteen, Paul Gilbert and Van Halen which, in turn, resulted in his devotion to his own practicing and playing of the guitar. Billy started a Rock/Prog band in the early 90s called Nothingface, which had local success including a Hawaii Music Award for Best Rock Album. Billy is new to Las Vegas but is looking forward to new playing opportunities as well as getting to pass on all his expertise and becoming a role model and mentor to the students at School of Rock!

An instrument in her hand from the tender age of 5, Harley Swisher had an interest early in life with anything that had strings. She started guitar lessons at 6 and has played viola, cello and bass since 6th grade studying in both after-school lessons and orchestra all through middle and high school.

After years of focusing on the guitar, Harley made the decision to pursue bass as her primary instrument because as she says, “All bassists we auditioned didn’t have what it took.”

Forming the band iRie in 2013, Harley showcased her talents as lead vocalist and bassist. The group developed a unique sound that led to many opportunities to share the stage with some big names: The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Killswitch Engage, Mayday Parade, Kyle Gass Band, Dance Gavin Dance and more.

Harley and her band iRie have played Extreme Thing Sports and Music Festival, House of Blues, Hard Rock Live, Vinyl Las Vegas, Hard Rock Cafe and numerous other local venues.

Anthony was born in Long Beach, CA in 1985. When he was 4 years old, he took an interest in drums after watching Queen: Live at Wembley with his dad. He started by banging on pots and pans, and his parents quickly discovered that he had a natural sense of rhythm. He got his first junior kit at age 5, and surprised everyone when he learned--entirely by ear--songs from bands like Queen, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and others. By age 8 Anthony was studying privately, learning the rudiments and how to read music. He continued to play all throughout his childhood, performing in school orchestras, marching band, jazz band, as well as forming bands with his friends. In 2006, Anthony studied at the Percussion Institute of Technology in Hollywood, and graduated in 2007. In 2008, Anthony joined two of the busiest cover bands in Southern California, Master Splinter & the Shredders and Woody & the Harrelsons. He has played hundreds of gigs between the two bands. Anthony has also performed with some of the most respected musicians in the Inland Empire, including Brett Cohen, Rachel Stark, Travis Allen, and Kaitlyn Weathers. In 2010, Anthony also performed with the legendary Hawaiian duo Cecilio & Kapono. In 2013, Anthony started playing with Voodoo Glow Skulls, a Southern California band that helped pioneer the ska-core sound in the early-mid 90s, and has toured all over the world with them.

Terry Peake is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist specializing in guitar and piano. As an instructor, Terry has been working with students of all ages and ability levels for the last ten years, primarily at Axis Music Academy in Southfield, Michigan. At Axis, Terry mostly taught guitar and piano, but also did his fair share working with bass, drums, and violin students, and was also one of the leading instructors involved with performance ensembles. Terry would perform alongside his students at some of Detroit's more notable venues, including An Evening with Chad Smith at the Berman Center for Performing Arts, where he and his students played with the legend himself. Terry was only a teenager when he started making an impact on the rock scene in Detroit. His growing fascination with classical music started influencing how he wrote for the band he established at age 16, and local musicians and fans alike were starting to take notice that he was doing something fresh and original. His fascination would soon lead him to pursue a degree in Music Composition from Wayne State University, where he would learn the secrets of the masters and graduate with honors.
