Gilbert students will blow your mind with advanced performances chock-full of hits by famous artists such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Frank Zappa, Queen, and many, many more! For our students, real performances breed real skill, and real fun.

All students in Gilbert’s Performance Program can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly band rehearsal to get students prepared for real shows
    • The experience of performing on stage with their band at real venues
    • Key learning in fundamental areas such as stage performance, harmonies, musicianship, and more
    • Fun, music, and education wrapped into one all-inclusive experience!

  • Our Rock 101 Program at School of Rock Gilbert is focused on making the first steps of a young student’s journey both fun and successful. The days of mundane music instruction are over. At School of Rock Gilbert, we believe that playing music together is the only real path to mastering an instrument and developing a true love for music.

In Rock 101, we focus our instruction on the one instrument that students have chosen to study. Whether we’re teaching scales, chords, notes, or time signatures, we put concepts in context so students understand how the principles they learn are applied to real music. Using some of the world’s most famous songs and infusing fun into every chord, Rock 101 allows Gilbert students to enhance their skills and move on to our Performance Program.

School of Rock Gilbert’s Rock 101 students can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly group rehearsals to reinforce basic concepts and skills in a band setting
    • A firm grasp of the fundamentals of technique and music theory
    • An understanding of what it means to play solo and in a group
    • Real knowledge gained through real fun!

  • School of Rock Gilbert’s top students can audition for our most prestigious honor: the School of Rock AllStars Program. Our AllStars represent the best of the best students from School of Rock’s entire global network of schools. With incredible musical aptitude, a knack for teamwork and incredible focus, today’s AllStars truly represent the future of rock and roll.

Each summer, our AllStars embark on an authentic concert tour to perform in jaw-dropping live shows across the country, including Red Rocks, Lollapalooza, Hangout Music Fest, NAMM, Gathering of the Vibes, and countless others. AllStars also get to share the stage with experienced, larger-than-life performers like Alice Cooper, Eddie Vedder, and Slash, to name a few. There is no better way for a star on the rise to get a taste for what professional music is really like.

School of Rock Gilbert’s AllStars can expect:

    • Real-world performances where they can shine in their chosen medium: guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and/or vocals
    • A fast-paced tour experience with stage shows at legendary events and venues
    • To play with the best performers from School of Rock’s global community
    • The opportunity to rock out on stage with world-renowned artists
    • An epic rock experience like no other!

  • School of Rock Gilbert is now enrolling for our Adult Performance Program, where adult students of all proficiency levels can explore and conquer the world of music. We get our students playing and learning at lightning-quick speeds through practical performance rather than run-of-the-mill music instruction programs. At School of Rock Gilbert, the thrill of the performance is just as important as learning the skill to rock.

Our adult students learn the fundamentals of music, including scales, chords, notes, progressions, and more, through some of the most iconic songs and sounds in music history. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of rock ‘n roll or a metal-loving head-banger at home in the mosh pit, our teachers know how to best connect your love for music with a passion for learning it.

All students in School of Rock Gilbert’s Adult Program can expect:

    • Fast-paced instruction in one of our great musical offerings: guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and/or vocals
    • Weekly private instruction catered to your goals and level of proficiency
    • Rehearsals with others just like you to get ready for real shows at live music venues
    • An understanding of music theory and technique fundamentals, learned through songs from your favorite music genre
    • Fun, instruction, and a great progression of practical skills wrapped all into one!

  • School of Rock Gilbert’s Rookies Program offers a gateway to understanding music for first and second graders. Using proprietary set-ups for guitar, bass, drums and keyboard, as well as other tools, we introduce our Rookies to music fundamentals in a fun way. The skills and passion for music that our Rookies learn prepares them for Rock 101 and a lifelong love of music.

With exercises, tools and games customized to their age group, our Gilbert Rookies learn the concepts of music theory, rhythm, pitch, form and dynamics as they play alongside their friends. We encourage our students to explore various instruments and play styles so they begin to understand how individual contributions form a band; even the best solo keyboard players or vocalists need to understand how an ensemble works.

All students in Gilbert’s Rookies Program can expect:

    • Weekly group lessons using guitar, bass, keyboard and drums
    • Exposure to essential fundamentals like music theory, pitch and rhythm
    • A focus on teamwork and collaboration
    • An understanding of what it means to play solo and in a group
    • Fun combined with practical learning!

Megan brings a good balance of rock n’ roll and business experience to the table. She worked for Starbucks Coffee Company for over eight years, five of which, she was the Store Manager of a high volume location. She also spent time opening new stores in new markets in the panhandle of Florida. But music has been a constant in Megan’s life from the time she could walk. Megan has been the front lady of bands of many genres: country, rockabilly, ska and punk. She’s had the opportunity to open for national acts as well as share the stage with some country greats.

Megan got her start at the Minnesota School of Rocks and moved to AZ with her husband Shane to open up the Arizona schools in 2012.

Shane has been playing in rock bands for the last 22 years. One of his first bands 'Helva' was the first unsigned band to play Edgefest in Somerset Wi and they were voted one of the top 10 unsigned bands in the country by Rollingstone.com. SCOTT CONTI, born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in the suburbs of Old Bridge NJ came from an artistically gifted family. He picked up guitar playing in the 9th grade and began composing by the 12th grade. During his time in High School, CONTI'S musical compositions even appeared in short films by students from Rutgers University (Manson Gross School of the Arts), after which he began playing in local clubs and coffee houses. CONTI attributes the very unique and original playing of Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, along with guitar God Jimi Hendrix as influences to his love of playing the electric guitar. Working in numerous cover bands seasoned his talents and opened doors to recording with other musicians. He also expanded to producing others, further broadening his musical horizons. CONTI'S most substantial contribution to date was his creative project called TRIBAL SOUL. This band was formed from his vision to blend a unique musical style with the backbone of classic rock and spirituality. Sending out positive energy became the goal, with relatable, soul opening lyrics, that touched lives with the universal language of music. Creating a following and playing all around the world, TRIBAL SOUL also chart topped on Indicore, an independent artist web site with two of their songs off of their 2007 release PEACE, LOVE...REALIZATION. This debut album was released through independent label Opera House Music Company and was engineered by Randy Emata, who has worked with artists such as Santana, Chaka Khan, Blues Traveler and Ludacris. Grammy nominated Stephen Marsh of Threshold Studios did the mastering for the CD, from which songs were also played in movie theaters nationwide by Movietunes. Tribal Soul, on a continued path to follow up their first CD, released CHANGES COMETH, in 2008. Once again engineered by Randy Emata, this album is filled with melody driven hard rock. From the beautifully expressive love song 'Mystery', to a perfect mix of contemporary RB and rock in 'They Say', this album stands up to any test against mainstream rock. Yet the infusion of powerful guitar solos in each piece, grab your attention and take you back in time. CONTI'S writing shows real thought and talent which shines throughout the album. Now embarking on a solo career, SCOTT CONTI taps into the essence of other guitarists like Andy Timmons, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani, while pushing forward his own stylized sounds. Having written 11 riveting guitar instrumentals, which were released on the CD T R A N S C E N D E N C E January 2009, everyone can now tap into his poetry in sound. CONTI'S guitar work emanates amazing purity and soul. From the sexy blues chord progressions of CROWN OF BLUES to the driving riff of STATIC FREE, each song takes on a character of its own. I M A G I N E September 2012, CONTI a guitar virtuoso and genius of instrumental composition, explores deeper waters with a haunting yet richly entailed work of stripped-down blues-rock and improvisational jazz. This record, entitled Imagine, puts the guitar wizard into a streaming new light of musical impression, as his efforts point toward a sincere evolutionary progression in composition and arrangement. Imagine was also the pick of the week on VH1 That Metal Show in 2014. Scott Conti other attribute are as follows. Teaches guitar, piano is a Producer as well as a Music Engineer. Has study recording with Shelly Yakus and Randy Emata.

Raymond has been playing guitar for over 25 years. He hails from the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area wherehe startedhis career as a guitar student of legendary thrash metal guitarist Alex Skolnick from the band Testament. Beginning in the 1990s, He had the great opportunity to play in many diverse bands throughout the years that ranged from blues, rockroll, alternative, punk, metal, rockabilly and country.Raymond had the good fortune to share the stage and tour with such notable national artists such as Linkin Park, System Of A Down, Nazareth, Puddle Of Mudd, P.O.D., Reverend Horton Heat, Koffin Kats, Clutch, Testamentas well asmembers from Slayer, Faith No More and Teslaalong withmany others. In the mid 2000s, he was very fortunate to be in an outfit that was under the same management team behind Bay Area alternative legends Primus. It was under their tutelage that he learned so much about the world of rockroll. Not just the musical side but, the business side as well. This included touring, merchandising, building a fan base and a slew of other great bits of information that he continues to teach to this day. The guitar is a passion of his and he prides himself in continued learning. Whether it be jazz, psychobilly, country mixed with punk, or good old fashioned 50srockroll, there is always something new to learn and pass on to new generations of music lovers. 'I am thankful that School Of Rock provides a fun and safe environment for future rockers to hone their skills andgrateful for the opportunity to share all of my experience and knowledge in that same environment.'-Raymond

School of Rock Unveils Classes By Nearby News November 25, 2014 Features , Local News Story and photo by Lynette Carrington For kids about to rock, School of Rock salutes you. The performance-based music school in Gilbert marks the third location in the Valley that teaches guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, drums and vocals. The students are taught how to read, write and perform music based on classic and modern rock and even Top 40 hits. 'They learn from rock bands to give them a well-rounded view,' said general manager Megan Baskerville. 'Metallica was inspired by musicians that did not sound like Metallica. So our job is to give them that whole scope.' School of Rock offers private and group lessons. 'Rock is such a huge umbrella, so we do a Motown show, a '60s reggae show,' Baskerville said. 'We do classics on up to shows that have more of a pop edge. It's a lot of fun.' Students also get to perform at venues like the Crescent Ballroom, The Pressroom in Phoenix, and the now-shuttered Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill in Mesa. 'We try to give them that real concert experience,' she said. Owner Steve Gentilini owns all three Valley School of Rock locations. 'There is the music part of this, but it's so much more,' he said. 'It's a place for kids to go and hang out. It's a safe place for kids and what they learn here also translates into the classroom. The performance skills they learn here give confidence to do well in school, too.' In some respects, School of Rock is like team sports because kids constantly work together to deliver a performance. Shane Baskerville is the music director at the three locations. 'Our instructors are awesome,' he said. 'I get them through different channels. A lot of them have music degrees and a lot of them have been touring musicians. 'Everybody has a highly scholastic background or a really good touring background.' All teachers are given a thorough theory test prior to being hired. The school, which also has Phoenix-area locations in Ahwatukee and Scottsdale, includes a small recording studio that can be used by its students for free. For School of Rock students who have bands outside of the school, they are also welcome to use the practice room. School of Rock offers a complimentary lesson for new students. Tours are available at the facility at 885 E. Warner Rd. Call (480) 483-7625 for additional information or visit www.gilbert.schoolofrock.com. Testimonials

  • “I can’t tell you what an enriching experience this has been for our whole family and especially for Josh. The instructors there were so much more than teachers for Josh, they were his idols and his role models. It has been an amazing time, and I know that as Josh gets older he will look back on all the memories he made at the SOR fondly. You have created something special there, and I hope you understand what an impact your efforts have had on the lives of these children.Thank you for everything! ”
    — Tim Gallagher, Father of School of Rock Denver student
  • “Carlson's time at School of Rock helped her recruit most of her current bandmates. It spurred her to apply to Berklee which, unlike other colleges that offer music majors geared mainly toward classical and jazz, offered the opportunity to train as a well-rounded musician. ”
    — Chelsea Carson, student from Long Valley School of Rock
  • “School of Rock is the best thing we have done for our three children. They learn self-confidence, teamwork, and musicianship in an environment that is safe and free of the typical age-barrier restrictions that are often inherent in other student activities. The youngest and oldest kids in the school work together and everyone is an equal on stage. I wish other youth activities were as welcoming. ”
    — Tony C., parent, Great Valley, PA
  • “School of Rock has helped develop my daughter's self confidence. She just lights up when she is on stage. I just love watching and seeing her growth as a person and as a musician. SOR is her second family. ”
    — Lori H., parent, Downingtown, PA
