  • Our Rock 101 Program at School of Rock Fort Worth is focused on making the first steps of a young student’s journey both fun and successful. The days of mundane music instruction are over. At School of Rock Fort Worth, we believe that playing music together is the only real path to mastering an instrument and developing a true love for music.

In Rock 101, we focus our instruction on the one instrument that students have chosen to study. Whether we’re teaching scales, chords, notes, or time signatures, we put concepts in context so students understand how the principles they learn are applied to real music. Using some of the world’s most famous songs and infusing fun into every chord, Rock 101 allows Fort Worth students to enhance their skills and move on to our Performance Program.

School of Rock Fort Worth’s Rock 101 students can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly group rehearsals to reinforce basic concepts and skills in a band setting
    • A firm grasp of the fundamentals of technique and music theory

There is no better way for a star on the rise to get a taste for what professional music is really like.

  • School of Rock Fort Worth’s Rookies Program offers a gateway to understanding music for first and second graders. Using proprietary set-ups for guitar, bass, drums and keyboard, as well as other tools, we introduce our Rookies to music fundamentals in a fun way. The skills and passion for music that our Rookies learn prepare them for Rock 101 and a lifelong love of music.

With exercises, tools and games customized to their age group, our Fort Worth Rookies learn the concepts of music theory, rhythm, pitch, form and dynamics as they play alongside their friends. We encourage our students to explore various instruments and play styles so they begin to understand how individual contributions form a band; even the best solo keyboard players or vocalists need to understand how an ensemble works.

    • A focus on teamwork and collaboration

Joaquin's interest in music started when he first heard his dad and uncles sing Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, and James Taylor songs. He came into School of Rock after making the move from the Rio Grande valley to McKinney. The move was a turning point his my life both personally and musically. He is familiar with many different genres in music ranging from rock, country, jazz, blues, finger-picking, etc. He is a regular in the Dallas Praise and Worship community (currently employed full time guitarist in Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas TX) while also free lancing to local Worship Leaders. Studying at School of Rock was part of the deal he made with his parents when they first moved here. After being a part of the program (regular shows, dean's list, and DFW summer tour) for some time, he was offered a job as a teacher which to him is the greatest job in the world. He loves School of Rock and what it stands for, nothing makes him happier than being a part of this program. He continues to work hard and broaden his talents so that he can be a good service to his coworkers.

Susy was born and raised in the town of Joshua, Texas, where she grew up with a love of music. She was first introduced to rock 'n' roll by her parents at a young age, as they would listen to Led Zeppelin, Gun 'n' Roses, Quiet Riot, Steve Miller Band and Tom Petty during every single car ride.

In 2010, she was introduced to School of Rock Fort Worth and found her home. Susy fit right in from the moment she set foot in the door; it truly was the Island of Misfit Toys that she had been looking for.

A few years after joining, Susy started lending a hand around the school, which eventually led her to helping run both the Fort Worth, Mansfield and Southlake School of Rock locations. Susy recently transferred back over to the Fort Worth school as the General Manager, where she has a strong desire to pass down her life changing School of Rock experience, as she knows first-hand how amazing the School of Rock program is for our students and their families.

Not having been born into a particularly musical family, and growing up in the rural Texas town of Sulphur Springs, presented School of Rock Fort Worth & School of Rock Mansfield General Manager/Music Director Andrew Sudderth with obvious challenges when it came to the realm of music discovery. This meant he had to seek it out for himself, and this was before the internet kids! Andrew took guitar lessons on and off throughout intermediate and secondary schooling in addition to taking advantage of school provided choral programs. Later in high school Andrew formed progressive hard rock band Fair to Midland which, not long after, came to be one of Dallas’ biggest drawing local acts resulting in catching the eyes and ears of the national and international music community. Fair to Midland eventually signed with Universal Records for their first international release and later with EOne for their second.
Andrew worked under Grammy award winning producer David Bottrill (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, Tool, Muse) during the making of Fair to Midland’s first record and later under Grammy award winner Joe Baressi (Queens of the Stone Age, Bad Religion, Melvins) for Fair to Midland’s sophomore effort. Andrew also earned co-production credits on the group’s sophomore album. It was also during the making of Fair to Midland’s first record Andrew trained under World renowned vocal instructor Ron Anderson; famous for having worked with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Chris Cornell, Axl Rose, Alicia Keys, Bjork, and many many more.
Throughout both record cycles Fair to Midland not only played a number of prestigious festivals (i.e. Coachella, Download, Rock Am Ring/Rock Am Park), but also played with everyone from The Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, and Tool to Amy Winehouse (oddly enough) and System of a Down.

Andrew continues to write music recreationally when he is not randomly trolling School of Rock hallways comically yelling at children and ruining his body w/ synthetic caffeine and bad eating habits.

Nick Tittle began belting out his jazzy feel-good tunes under the wing of Fort Worth local legend Scott Copeland. Starting back in 2010, Nick would rehearse on an empty stage after closing time and without an audience at the Thirsty Armadillo in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. This melodic pioneer fed off of musicians like Ray LaMontagne, Alice in Chains, and Otis Redding. Since then, he has created his own unique style that is now taking him to stages in front of audiences all over Texas. His debut album - titled appropriately, 'Screaming for Candy Art' - hit the shelves in 2013. The tracks blast altruistic original euphonies that are a refreshing addition to the Texas music scene. He is now the lead singer/rhythm guitar player for Fort Worth band Arenda Light.

School Of Rock, the leader in performance-based music education, has announced that MEGADETH lead singer and guitarist Dave Mustaine will visit the school's Frisco, Texas location on Friday, February 19. Mustaine will give musical guidance to School Of Rock students, working personally with the future rock stars to help advance their musical skills. Additionally, the artist will join students from School Of Rock Fort Worth on stage to perform a few MEGADETH tracks, both classic and new, for the rest of the school, contest winners from the Dallas-Fort Worth community, and the students' families.

Mustaine brings a true rock 'n' roll experience to the aspiring young musicians of all nine Dallas-Fort Worth School Of Rock locations. His visit to School Of Rock comes just before the kick-off of MEGADETH's "Dystopia" world tour, on February 20, in Dallas, Texas, celebrating the band's fifteenth studio album.

School Of Rock continues to be an innovator in the musical education industry. The program takes students beyond the classroom and to some of rock 'n' roll's most famous stages, such as Chicago's House Of Blues and Lollapalooza. School Of Rock is using this event to celebrate the opening of School Of Rock Plano, its ninth Dallas-Fort Worth area location. Dave Mustaine adds to the curriculum's authenticity as it gives students the opportunity to play side-by-side with a professional musician. Mustaine's extensive background and rock n' roll expertise make him an ideal guest to join the School Of Rock staff who lives to play music.

"At School Of Rock, we strive to provide cutting-edge opportunities that sharpen our students' instrument skills and strengthen their dedication," says Dzana Homan, CEO of School Of Rock. "We are fortunate to have rock legend Dave Mustaine share his musical expertise. His passion for rock 'n' roll is the ultimate inspiration that will motivate our students to channel their inner rock stars."Read less
