Programs

  • School of Rock Fort Worth's Performance Program is all about translating our students' abilities to play in the lesson room to performing for real on stage. In addition to refining their overall skill and proficiency as musicians, students learn what comes with being part of a band: teamwork, collaboration, and the special brand of fun that only comes from sharing awesome experiences with others.

Students learn, absorb, and perform iconic hits from some of history's greatest rock and roll performers including The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Van Halen, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and many more. No matter what they perform, our students will learn incredible skills and enjoy epic experiences that will last a lifetime.

All students in Fort Worth's Performance Program can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly band rehearsal to get students prepared for real shows
    • Real-life performances on stage at amazing venues
    • Advanced instruction in fundamentals such as stage performance, harmonies, musicianship, and more
    • Fun, music, and education wrapped into one all-inclusive experience!

  • Our Rock 101 Program at School of Rock Fort Worth is focused on making the first steps of a young student’s journey both fun and successful. The days of mundane music instruction are over. At School of Rock Fort Worth, we believe that playing music together is the only real path to mastering an instrument and developing a true love for music.

In Rock 101, we focus our instruction on the one instrument that students have chosen to study. Whether we’re teaching scales, chords, notes, or time signatures, we put concepts in context so students understand how the principles they learn are applied to real music. Using some of the world’s most famous songs and infusing fun into every chord, Rock 101 allows Fort Worth students to enhance their skills and move on to our Performance Program.

School of Rock Fort Worth’s Rock 101 students can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly group rehearsals to reinforce basic concepts and skills in a band setting
    • A firm grasp of the fundamentals of technique and music theory
    • An understanding of what it means to play solo and in a group

Andrew Sudderth is a very interesting and talented guy; he is the lead singer for a lil' band called Fair to Midland!!! Cough cough'¦ (We might be brushing our shoulders off now'¦) Andrew's favorite color is flannel, he eats sandwiches with the crust attached, and prefers shave gel over shave cream or a bar of soap. His vocal inspirations include Roy Orbison, Peter Gabriel, Jello Biafara, Brian Wilson, Nina Simone, and Hank Williams, Sr.In 1998, Andrew formed Fair to Midland along with friends Cliff Campbell, Jason Pintler, and Nathan Seals. He joined as the bass guitar player, but eventually took over lead vocals when Nathan Seals joined the band. He is known for an enthusiastic stage presence, including wild dancing and leaping, and occasionally even climbing various parts of the stage, as well as his large vocal range, spanning the gap from guttural growls to crooning falsetto. Andrew has released three studio albums and one extended play as lead singer of Fair to Midland. He also provided backing vocals on South FM's song "Regret/The Grieving" from their release Swallowing the Pill. In 2009 he provided vocals on the tracks "Look," "Stars" and "Time Is Nothing" from Resident Hero's album Look. He also provided background vocals on the track "Red Shelter" from Moving Atlas' Red Shelter EP.

Hailing from the Piney Woods of East Texas, Andy Long has been chopping wood (playing drums) for nearly 2 decades! (Geez, this guy is old!) As a self-taught percussionist, Andy started his musical journey with stranger than normal influences. Avant Garde was his genre of choice early on, though later he would develop a taste for the finer flavors of most any style of music, especially Rock and Metal. A few semesters studying music at a local college would help him better understand his place in the music world; not as a Xerox-copy "educated" drummer but rather a unique artist with his own personally developed forms of expression. Currently, Andy's main gigs are with metal band The Spectacle from Denton, alternative-rock band Marquis of Vaudeville from Dallas and teaching drums at School of Rock in Fort Worth.

By Steve Watkins Special to DFW.com Posted 6:26pm on Tuesday, Mar. 31, 2015 I was trying to decide where to go to get my weekly live music fix on Saturday, and I got a cryptic message from Casey Smith (formerly of the Where House). The message indicated I needed to rush down to the Cellar to see some band called the Pyramids. Apparently, it was the band's first gig, and I don't typically write about bands on their first day, but Casey is usually on point so I headed down to Berry Street. The place was infested with musicians '” Hayden Miller was in the crowd, and Luke McGlathery was running sound. The Pyramids were just setting up. The Pyramids are a three-piece, straight-up rock 'n' roll act. It was indeed their first gig together, but these guys are all fixtures in the Funkytown music scene. There was a rough spot here and there, but fewer than many bands I've seen that have been playing for years. The rhythm section '” with Nolan Robertson on bass and Trey Ownby on drums '” was as tight as a snare drum. And guitarist/vocalist Caleb Stanislaw is a passionate performer. They had the Cellar crowd from the start; this audience was transfixed. But it was Stanislaw's guitar work that sold me. I hear a lot of solos, and few impress me as much as this. His playing was precise. Aggressive and emotive, without gimmickry or riff-bashing. 'I never feel really myself and as alive as when I'm screaming into the mike and trying to break a string,' Stanislaw said in an interview after the show. He writes lyrics, and then goes to the band with a rough framework of the instrumentals, to which everyone contributes. For him, it's an artistic outlet, a way to connect with the audience. 'Every individual knows something,' Stanislaw said. 'They need to impart it to others. They need to impart it through a medium, and the medium is music. 'If you do art for art's sake, it's disingenuous because at some point you have to have an audience, even if it's an audience of one.' At the Cellar, the Pyramids finished up with a song called Replay, a soul-searching number about realizing you're an adult and becoming aware of the people around you. Stanislaw credited the song to Arlo Guthrie, but it was pretty obviously not. 'It's a coming-of-age song,' he said. 'It's about just being yourself but realizing that everybody else is trying to be themselves, too.' Throughout the night, the band played a tight set, and pretty much its whole catalog of songs. People were demanding an encore, but they were out. It happens with a new band, but the set we got was enough. Go and see these guys. I expect great things.

Testimonials

  • “It is hard to articulate the pride you feel as a parent when you see your kid perform on-stage. As a music teacher for fifteen years, it is easy to say that choosing the Downingtown School of Rock for our fifteen year-old son, was indeed, the best parenting decision we have made yet. ”
    — Susan B., parent, Unionville, PA
  • “When we decided to send our daughter to SOR, we never imagined what a positive impact that one decision would have on her life. She transformed from a shy, quiet kid to a confident, incredible musician, with an active social life and many close friends she considers her second family. The amazing memories she’ll always have of touring and performing with the All-Stars at world-renowned venues and festivals are just icing on the cake. ”
    — Karla D., parent, Unionville, PA
  • “I wish I had School of Rock when I was growing up. ”
    — Nearly Every Parent Who Walks Through Our Doors
  • “School of Rock has been a great community for these kids. It is an alternative to extracurricular activities that a lot of these kids can really fit into where they might feel out of place in other arenas. ”
