Programs

  • School of Rock East Cobb's Performance Program is all about translating our students' abilities to play in the lesson room to performing for real on stage. In addition to refining their overall skill and proficiency as musicians, students learn what comes with being part of a band: teamwork, collaboration, and the special brand of fun that only comes from sharing awesome experiences with others.

Students learn, absorb, and perform iconic hits from some of history's greatest rock and roll performers including The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Van Halen, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and many more. No matter what they perform, our students will learn incredible skills and enjoy epic experiences that will last a lifetime.

All students in East Cobb's Performance Program can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly band rehearsal to get students prepared for real shows
    • Real-life performances on stage at amazing venues
    • Advanced instruction in fundamentals such as stage performance, harmonies, musicianship, and more
    • Fun, music, and education wrapped into one all-inclusive experience!

  • Our Rock 101 Program at School of Rock East Cobb is focused on making the first steps of a young student’s journey both fun and successful. The days of mundane music instruction are over. At School of Rock East Cobb, we believe that playing music together is the only real path to mastering an instrument and developing a true love for music.

In Rock 101, we focus our instruction on the one instrument that students have chosen to study. Whether we’re teaching scales, chords, notes, or time signatures, we put concepts in context so students understand how the principles they learn are applied to real music. Using some of the world’s most famous songs and infusing fun into every chord, Rock 101 allows East Cobb students to enhance their skills and move on to our Performance Program.

School of Rock East Cobb’s Rock 101 students can expect:

    • Weekly private music lessons on guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and/or vocals
    • Weekly group rehearsals to reinforce basic concepts and skills in a band setting
    • A firm grasp of the fundamentals of technique and music theory
    • An understanding of what it means to play solo and in a group
    • Real knowledge gained through real fun!

  • School of Rock East Cobb’s top students can audition for our most prestigious honor: the School of Rock AllStars Program. Our AllStars represent the best of the best students from School of Rock’s entire global network of schools. With incredible musical aptitude, a knack for teamwork and incredible focus, today’s AllStars truly represent the future of rock and roll.

Each summer, our AllStars embark on an authentic concert tour to perform in jaw-dropping live shows across the country, including Red Rocks, Lollapalooza, Hangout Music Fest, NAMM, Gathering of the Vibes, and countless others. AllStars also get to share the stage with experienced, larger-than-life performers like Alice Cooper, Eddie Vedder, and Slash, to name a few. There is no better way for a star on the rise to get a taste for what professional music is really like.

School of Rock East Cobb’s AllStars can expect:

    • Real-world performances where they can shine in their chosen medium: guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and/or vocals
    • A fast-paced tour experience with stage shows at legendary events and venues
    • To play with the best performers from School of Rock’s global community
    • The opportunity to rock out on stage with world-renowned artists
    • An epic rock experience like no other!

  • At School of Rock East Cobb, we know how to bring the world of music, and the fun that comes with it, to adults. We get our students playing and learning at rapid-fire speeds through real performances of their favorite songs, instead of your old traditional music instruction programs with piles of sheet music and hours of rote memorization. At School of Rock East Cobb, the stage can be yours at any age.

Our adult students learn the fundamentals of music, including scales, chords, notes, progressions, and more, from real-world instruction through some of the most iconic songs and sounds in music history. Whatever your musical taste may be, our instructors know how to create a program just for you. Whether you’re seeking basic proficiency, a standing gig as the resident guitar player at parties, or future rock star status, School of Rock East Cobb works with you to help you reach your goals.

Students in School of Rock East Cobb’s Adult Program can expect:

    • Fast-paced instruction on the instrument of your choice: guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and/or vocals
    • Weekly private instruction catered to your goals and level of proficiency
    • All-adult rehearsals to prepare for real performances in local venues
    • A firm grasp of music theory and technique fundamentals, taught through your favorite music genre
    • Fun, instruction, and great progression of practical skills wrapped all into one!

  • School of Rock East Cobb’s Rookies Program offers a gateway to understanding music for first and second graders. Using proprietary set-ups for guitar, bass, drums and keyboard, as well as other tools, we introduce our Rookies to music fundamentals in a fun way. The skills and passion for music that our Rookies learn prepares them for Rock 101 and a lifelong love of music.

With exercises, tools and games customized to their age group, our (geomodifer) Rookies learn the concepts of music theory, rhythm, pitch, form and dynamics as they play alongside their friends. We encourage our students to explore various instruments and play styles so they begin to understand how individual contributions form a band; even the best solo keyboard players or vocalists need to understand how an ensemble works.

All students in East Cobb’s Rookies Program can expect:

    • Weekly group lessons using guitar, bass, keyboard and drums
    • Exposure to essential fundamentals like music theory, pitch and rhythm
    • A focus on teamwork and collaboration
    • An understanding of what it means to play solo and in a group
    • Fun combined with practical learning!

"Radley Fricker grew up in Marietta, GA where he spent his formative years studying drums and percussion privately and participating in school and community ensembles. While enrolled as a Jazz Studies major at Georgia State University, Radley joined the funk band Newberry Jam as a founding member while participating in numerous live and studio productions as a sideman. Currently, Radley occupies the drum chair for Atlanta bands The Difference Machine and Heavy Chevy and performs on percussion with The Ruination and Batuque Brasil. In addition to performing, he maintains a passion for teaching drum students of all ages and backgrounds. Radley's teaching philosophy emphasizes that YOU are the instrument - whether you play drum set, sleigh bells or slide whistle, - and that "grooving" is an essentially human concept. Just make sure you bring enough for the rest of the class!"

Swa began singing 27 years ago; her first solo, was in her gospel choir, when she was three years old. Violin and piano were both introduced into her world at ten, at thirteen she began composing her own music and both opera and jazz, she picked up at sixteen. She continued her vocal expansion at Central Michigan University. Her Bachelors of Science in music expanded her vocal knowledge into German, Italian, French, Portuguese and Spanish through opera and musical theater. Her students are guided to their best vocal selves through: ~Break down of harmony ~Blending ~Improvising ~Scales ~Vocal placement ~The proper way to breathe ~Rhythms ~Melodic line structures ~Dynamics ~Strengthening of both the falsetto and chest voice, Here at the School of Rock, we teach our students how to perform as well. How to take a song make it their own and rock out. Stage presence is just as important as the voice when preforming live: what to do with your hands/feet, facial expressions, timing and how to draw in the audience with your void and keeping the audience with your stage presence. That's what makes the School of Rock program so unique and effective - we nourish the musician and turn them into performers...as long as the student does the work ;-)

Chase Nixon started playing the saxophone in the school band in 6th grade. In the same year, he took up the drums and the guitar outside of school. He began bass shortly after. Every instrument fascinated him in a different way. Chase started a band called Blackout with his two best friends. When ninth grade rolled around, he found the band he would be with for the next four years. They called ourselves Frequence and they were a pop/punk trio. Chase played many different venues, the high school talent show, and the senior picnic. After high school, Chase moved onto college as most do. He took up the bass guitar in a rock band called The Silver Comet and the few months that the band lasted provided new and informative experiences. Chase is finally in the band he feels sums up everything he has done: Small Time 'Capone. Chase currently plays guitar and sings backing vocals in Small Time 'Capone. He is also the drummer of a local band called Steady Common. Chase loves music and where it is going in his life. He is very fortunate for all the projects he has been involved with.

Testimonials

  • “Just wanted to take a minute and express to you how much that School Of Rock East Cobb has meant to Seth as well as our entire family. This school is just not all about music but it is about friendships, team work, and work ethic's. It has truly been a God send opportunity for our son, Seth. See in life we should teach our children that it takes hard work and honesty and dedication to succeed in this world and sometimes life is just not fair. I truly believe that School of Rock East Cobb is run with all this in mind and we thank you for that. Seth has really grown as a young man and he loves the School Of Rock East Cobb as well as the music and each one of his band members. And he thinks the WORLD of Maxine...as we all do. It has been such a great pleasure to watch him and each one of the kids grow and gel together each time they perform. To see how far Seth has come and where he is going really warms our hearts and the fact that he and the rest of the band are playing CLASSIC ROCK well that's just icing on the cake.”
    — Scott Newcomb, Rocker Dad, East Cobb, GA
  • “We have been a part of East Cobb School of Rock since it opened in April of 2014. It has now turned into my son's second home and through the school, he has developed life long friendships and a love of all types of music and stage performance. We have nothing but great things to say about Adam, Maxine and all of the instructors. They really treat the kids as their own with encouragement, discipline and most of all praise. We highly, wholeheartedly recommend SofR for any kids (and adults, too) that want to discover their inner rock star!!”
