Adam Fenton started playing piano at age 4 when his mother was given one by a friend. He developed a passion for Rock n Roll at an early age, and would often teach himself songs by ear. His favorites were the Beatles, David Bowie, Frank Zappa, and Joni Mitchell, yet as he aged he began to develop interest in Punk, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Indie acts such as This Town Needs Guns, At the Drive In, Dave Brubeck, and A Tribe Called Quest. As he progressed on the piano, he eventually developed an interest in drums, and eventually even took some private piano lessons at the Juilliard School at age 7, however the mundane nature of the education style eventually drove him to quit them in lieu of pursuing mastery of piano and drums as an independent. As a tween, he decided to also teach himself how to play guitar and bass, after becoming inspired by Kurt Cobain and Billie Joe Armstrong. His family moved from Washington Heights, NYC to North Carolina, where Adam used his new skill to start a punk band, Hissy Fits, and they've been playing regularly all around North Carolina since late 2011. Hissy Fits have opened for national touring acts like Jonas Sees in Color and Balance and Composure, and they're music's been positively reviewed twice by INDY weekly along with other reputable local music information sources. Adam has also played drums in the local bands Numans and Foreverends. You can listen to Hissy Fits at hissyfitsnc.bandcamp.com , and find more info about the band at facebook.com.hissyfitsnc. You can also hear an example of his drumming at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6X8ZPTYeiXI and https://foreverends1.bandcamp.com .

Rob Philbeck is a bassist/guitarist/singer, who grew up in Raleigh, NC. He has been taught by several private instructors over the years. His real journey with music began in high school even though his dad bought him a guitar at age 12. He was inspired by bands like Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Rush, ACDC, Foreigner, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Dokken, Duran Duran, Def Leppard, Steve Vai and Ratt to name a few. He took up guitar seriously at age 30 with an Ibanez electric and a tiny practice amp. He would play for hours in a split level house he shared with three others for hours determined to become a guitar player. At age 32, he had his first band experience with a group called 11:05, who needed a bass player instead. So he took up bass and hasn't put it down since. He played in 11:05 for about 8-10 years and he has been in many successful classic rock cover bands in the last 18 years, including one original music band. You can see him with his most recent band, Wheels of Fire, a three piece outfit that he leads with vocals and bass. In the last two years, he has rekindled his passion with the acoustic guitar, teaching private lessons on the side . His musical journey will see him taking on new challenges working at SOR in the year to come.

  • “School of Rock. The best music school anywhere. This whole idea of getting kids not just taking lessons and learning notes and chords, but learning songs and playing with other young musicians, and getting out on stage… I was so impressed that my daughter Cheyenne goes to School of Rock on Long Island. ”
    — Dee Snider, Twisted Sister
  • “You want your kid to be passionate about something, whether it be sports, scouts, dance or whatever. School of Rock does this for my son. We have discovered a talent we didn't know he had. My son would live at School of Rock if he could. We’ve already recommended the program to several friends. ”
    — Susan Snyder, Clifton, VA
  • “Our son explored many other extra-curricular activities prior to SOR, and no other activity was able to keep his interest. He has been challenged with new material, gained a foundation in theory and songwriting, as well as learned how to work in a group with other students to put on phenomenal rock 'n roll concerts in real" concert venues." ”
