Born into an artistically creative family, music has always been a large part of Maia's life. Maia began singing at the age of three and by the age of ten she was already dazzling people at public performances. As a teenager, Maia went on the road with Broadway companies, and at fifteen she joined a band where she met drummer, Alan Pugielli, who would later become her husband and co-writer of her album material. In her earlier years Maia was drawn to performers such as Chaka Kahn and Patti LaBelle, although Maia has carved her own niche and has developed a style uniquely her own. Maia Amada - The Album on Word/Epic debuted in 1992 and was followed by four full length albums with several Top 10 and #1 charted singles. This accomplishment was due to the collaboration of Maia and the multi-talented Shane Keister, along with her husband Alan Pugielli as principal lyricist, and music by Cheryl Rogers, Nelson Miranda, and Terry Silverlight. All albums had both Contemporary Christian and mainstream success. Maia's voice has been heard on television and radio for years on voice-overs and jingles in both English and Spanish. Maia has also been guest artist on several Christian projects including the Sister's projects for Warner Records, which showcases the talents of many of Contemporary Christians top female vocalists. Today, her focus is on the writing and performance of worship music. There is talk of another album coming from Maia within the next few months. She feels working with other singers and teaching younger voices is wonderful and gives her life purpose. When performing, Maia always shares a positive message of hope through her music.

  • “When we decided to send our daughter to SOR, we never imagined what a positive impact that one decision would have on her life. She transformed from a shy, quiet kid to a confident, incredible musician, with an active social life and many close friends she considers her second family. The amazing memories she’ll always have of touring and performing with the All-Stars at world-renowned venues and festivals are just icing on the cake. ”
