In 2008, the Westport Downtown Merchants Association decided to bring some good old southern charm to the town of Westport, CT and pioneered the Blues Views & BBQ Festival.
The two-day event was created to meld together the worlds of BBQ and Blues. Since the Festival’s inception, the music offerings have branched out to include Soul, Funk, R & B, a little bit of Rock & Roll – but our roots remain planted in the Blues.
The main stage musical line up offers approximately 19 hours of eclectic and diverse performances by top national and international musicians and a second stage was added to feature the very best of CT-based musicians.
The Festival began with two BBQ competitions, for amateurs and certified pros. In fact, our “pros” competition was an official Kansas City BBQ Society Competition and served as a Connecticut Sate BBQ Championship. Our amateur event has become “Cookin’ for a Cause,” where teams come together for the community with proceeds donated to the Westport Woman’s Club Food Closet which provides food for needy families.
The ‘Q continues to have something for everyone, at every age.
Visitors enjoy top-name entertainment, great food and drink, and lots of family-friendly activities: bull rides, bouncy amusements, eating contests, chef’s demos, and new this year, the opportunity to be a judge in the People’s Choice Wing Contest.
Blues, Views & BBQ is a swingin’ street party, complete with tantalizing tastes and soulful sounds – and we invite you to join the fun.

Born into an artistically creative family, music has always been a large part of Maia's life. Maia began singing at the age of three and by the age of ten she was already dazzling people at public performances. As a teenager, Maia went on the road with Broadway companies, and at fifteen she joined a band where she met drummer, Alan Pugielli, who would later become her husband and co-writer of her album material. In her earlier years Maia was drawn to performers such as Chaka Kahn, and Patti LaBelle, although Maia has carved her own niche and has developed a style uniquely her own.Maia Amada '“ The Album on Word/Epic debuted in 1992 and was followed by four full length albums with several Top10 and #1 charted singles. This accomplishment was due to the collaboration of Maia and the multi talented Shane Keister, along with her husband Alan Pugielli as principal lyricist, and music by Cheryl Rogers, Nelson Miranda and Terry Silverlight. All albums had both Contemporary Christian and mainstream success. Maia's voice has been heard on television and radio for years on voiceovers and jingles in both English and Spanish. Maia has also been guest artist on several Christian projects including the Sister's projects for Warner Records, which showcases the talents of many of Contemporary Christians top female vocalists.Today, her focus is on the writing and performance of worship music. There is talk of another album coming from Maia within the next few months. She feels working with other singers and teaching younger voices is wonderful and gives her life purpose. When performing, Maia always shares a positive message of hope through her music.

32 year old professional performance/Session drummer from The Hudson Valley Region, NY.
Influences: Buddy Rich, Benny Greb, Jon Karel, Shannon Lucas, Adrian Erlandsson John Bonham
Charlie Corletta has studied and learned his discipline of drums and percussion under the professional eyes and ears of Paul Beatie, Bobby Deitch, and John Hvasta.
For 23 years Charlie has been playing drums. First by picking up the sticks in elementary school where he learned the basic fundamentals of percussion in concert band, marching band, and district orchestra. This education followed him as he progressed to junior high and high school where he continued to play and develop through music education in a school setting as well as privately.
Charlie got his professional start playing drums live at the young age of 16 when he and his band at the time opened for his favorite band, iconic Swedish Heavy Metal Legends In Flames at the now closed L'Amour Night Club in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. It was this show that set the tone for what would be Charlie's dream and passion coming to life.
Touring and playing countless live shows as both a regional and national act became a constant in Corletta's life. Opening for his favorite bands and performing as a headliner himself, Charlie has experienced so many phenomenal musical and performance moments. Performing in front of crowds as small as fifteen people to as large as ten thousand, no gig has ever been too small or too large for the New York Native.
Since and during that time Charlie has recorded drums and released four commercially accepted albums, appeared on numerous singles as session drummer, had regular air play on Sirius XM Liquid Metal as well as FM radio and for a short time stepped away from the drums when he became lead singer for New Jersey based extreme metal act Julius Seizure.
Although drums have always been Charlie's main discipline, he is also an accomplished singer, song writer and guitarist.
In 2012 Corletta was given the chance to write and publish the theme song "The Ride Of a Your Life" for History Chanel's "We're The Fugawis" television show. On this song Charlie showcased his ability to write, and perform all instruments when he recorded drums, guitar, bass, and vocals for the song.
That talented has also been displayed in Charlie's heavy metal solo project The Silencer, where he writes and performs all material and all instruments on record.
When Charlie isn't performing with his bands, teaching, or recording you can usually find him down in Nyack, NY on the Hudson River jamming out on open jam nights with some of the areas most sought after, top Notch'd musicians at Olives, or Casa Del Sol.
"My mission is to give my students not just an education in drums but the insight, intuition, and inspiration they need to be the most confident and comfortable players to ever sit behind a drum set. I want them to know just how fun and life changing the world of drums can be when they have the ability to be the keepers of time and rhythm," said Corletta.
      Other qualifications: ASCAP Member Songwriter/Publisher
Owner and Operator of independent DIY record label and PR Company Fallen Music Inc.
Bachelors Degree in Public Relations/Journalism from SUNY New Paltz
