The days of traditional instruction with piles of sheet music are over. At School of Rock Baltimore, we believe that playing real music is the only path to proficiency and a true appreciation for music.

In Rock 101, students select one instrument to study, and we begin teaching fundamentals: scales, chords, notes, time signatures, and all the rest. Our unique approach to music instruction teaches our students vital fundamentals through songs they know and love, not rote memorization. With real musical context in a fun environment, we give all of our students the knowledge they need to really pursue their passion for music.

Can the Black Keys take on The White Stripes: their greatest predecessor? You decide! This battle royale will be full of catchy guitar riffs, heavy drum beats, catchy choruses, and all the fuzz pedals you can stand. The Black keys exploded onto the scene with their hit single, “Lonely Boy” and they haven’t stopped since. The White stripes may have disbanded in 2011, but their influence has lived on. Jack White’s guitar riff’s are hard to beat: with hits like “Seven Nation Army,” and “Icky Thump.” Or will they be topped by the Black Keys? You decide! It’s time to celebrate two of the most famous bands from the garage rock revival movement with a week long riff-off. There will be a concert at the end of the week that family and friends will be able to attend. There will also be a lunch break during each day of camp, so feel free to bring a bagged lunch! • “My son has ADHD. While he is a very smart kid, it takes him a little bit of time to get rolling, but he seemed to pick up very quickly during his lessons and band practices. I have seen a HUGE change in his demeanor and he is so happy he is attending The School of Rock. The staff and his personal experience with his coaches have been amazing with him. I really appreciate their kindness and encouragement for my son to do his best.”
    — Jessica, Baltimore, MD
  • “I love the program because it has that "cool" factor that resonates with my son. It is so fun to watch him sling that guitar over his shoulder and RUN into class! As a parent this is so important. The one-on-one lessons sharpen skills and instill the importance of practice, band sessions teach kids they are part of a team and the live concert component offers a unique glimpse into the business side of the music industry. The shows facilitate a students understanding of all that goes into becoming a Rock Star; collaboration, hard work, marketing, promotion and ticket sales.”
    — Pam, Baltimore, MD
  • “It is both creative and teaches skills and discipline as well. The people are friendly, talented, and love music. My daughter does other activities, but this the one that she is ALWAYS excited to go to.”
    — Kris M., Baltimore, MD
